We are 3 weeks away from the playoffs and here's the recap of Saturday's matches.
Two Great 8 powerhouses met at Indiana and Illusion found themselves behind by 22 at the end of the 1st quarter. They came back but Garnier and company fought well against Statovici and company in the paint: 110-97.Gavno now has the edge for homecourt but Barr's increasing stats tells us it's still to early to predict who will finish on top.
A win at Indianapolis could make Magic look unbeatable. Standings might be telling us the opposite but these 2 teams are even in terms of player quality. Hawks' higher FG% through out the game was the key for winning: 108-92. Both teams handled the ball pretty well and made just 4 TO each.
Cleveland TIE'd their home game against Booshes and surprised the fans. As usual all Booshes players on the court made significant contributions and team looks confident about the title race on Big 8: 74-95.
Mina and the Steppers pulled a big victory against Goats and now sitting on the 4th seed: 63-76. Goats losing streak increased to 6 and they should be happy they are still 3rd. Increasing their 3 pt % might help them short term. Or maybe coach should ban his guys shooting behind the 3 pt line.
Don't expect 3 digit scores at any Tachenko game. Flyers are not a team that can be taken lightly and their center Hinterwith put some decent numbers. This win helped Tachenko climb to 3rd place. 79-68. If defense wins championships than Tachenko is not the type of a team you want to face come playoff time.
Investors vs. Bangers was another important game of the day. Home side won and improved their record to 7-9: 116-108. 3 teams are at 7-9 and Dragons are at 6-10, what a close race that is. If it's decided by tie break, Dragons' higher point difference will be their greatest asset.
Rip City's travel to east coast didn't end up as they wish. 100-88. Cresleys play like a playoff team and they are just one game behind Rip City and 2 games behind Magic.
The end of Knicks- Dragons game turned out to be a thriller. Game was full of drama. Bumbul scored 48 points and his teammates was tough at D on the second half. Bumbul was supposed to shot the last ball however Braden found the ball in his hands and missed a golden opportunity: 98-96. Although it's not official, Dragons are the first team relegated. Knicks don't have a shot at 6th seed or higher so they are likely to build enthusiasm for the relegation series.
Player of the day was Mathieu Billon of the Hawks. MVP candidate came close to a triple double with 29 points, 21 rebounds, 8 assists and no TO's. He was 12/15 from the field, and 11/12 excluding 3 point attempts.
Among Tuesday's games, Cleveland @ Magic and Goats @ Dragons promise potential thrillers.
