Spain just lost to USA 100-78
We've seen how soft Pau can be, especially in his earlier career.

So Australia beating France doesn't matter then, especially after losing to everyone else. Except for a Greek and I think Chinese team we played over here.

Bring on missing the finals yet again :D

Do you know why Marc Gasol didn't play? Is he out for Olympics?

Gasol had a shoulder injury if I'm not mistaken. He did warm up, this injury is not serious. He was given time to rest his injury and it was also a good opportunity for Spain to "hide" a part of their game obviously.

Notice that Ibaka didn't play much and was extremely good during his court time. Juanca "el pistolero" Navarro played like a rotting shrimp. Don't get it wrong, this guy rocks, it was just a bad night.

On the other hand, USA played their best line up. Also remember that they lost the first quarter when Spain was playing their not even best line up.

USA is in trouble!!!

kobe and durant needs to take less threes and give it to Lebron. the zone is forcing too many threes from the USA

you usually break down zone defense with a good low post game (inside-out) which they dont have. Driving against zone defense is not very efficient (although I'm convinced LBJ can make it efficient). USA will take a lot of threes and they'd better make them if they want to win versus Spain or Russia!

They need to do what miami did when they were zoned. Wade and LBJ doing random cuts. They've got the best point guards in the league so cutting to the basket shouldn't be difficult with passers like Paul and Williams.

Why not, but they won't get a shot in the paint. The defensive help will come and they'll have to kick the ball out.

Then comes the existential question: can they hit open threes? These guys are super-players: they can create their own shot without any difficulty. However, they're not the best spot up shooters in their league. If USA had a couple of Steve Novak / Ray Allen type players, they'd not have any trouble there.

That's why I don't like USA players: they're certainly the best but they're all used to play the same role.

That'd be more or less my ideal USA team (regardless of who's interested or not in joining the team):

Paul / Williams
Allen / Bryant
James / Durant
Love / Garnett
Bynum / Duncan

Aussies left their run too late against Brazil. Waited until the defecit got out to 11 before risking their shots and brinign it back to within 2 points with a minute to go. Mills shot poorly.
