But training those kinds of players is definitely fun!

SF training fun...yeah, you must be a masochist.

They basically bounce from PG to C position and back for 8-9 seasons making you lose games in the process and when they are done, you get what...5 good seasons out of them? If you train them for NT, you get even less productive games from them.

I just convinced them they were guards until they were like 22, and then told them I was just kidding and now they need to train like big men. Many laughs were had. Heartfelt stories were exchanged. Suggestions of what I could do to myself abounded. Great fun! ;)

'Some skills are basically free, so foolish not to build them up to a certain point That makes the PA debate kinda clear, PA is free up to a certain point, so foolish not to get it there before testing the cap.'

I read this a lot about 'free' skills. Where can I find a list of 'free' or 'close to free' skills by position'?

Also, I am training a 'superstar' 6'5" Center to be a SF, so I believe his 'free' skills will be different than those described above.

Thanks

** Edit

I just noticed my trainee - I drafted him last season as 18yo and he was listed as 'C' now is a 19yo 'PF'. I didn't know their position title could change with training and development.

I am not sure if there are any free skills, just really cheap skills. I could be wrong about this, just my opinion have reading about this on the forums and using things like Buzzer Manger and the training simulator. Here is a link to the list of skills and their importance to each position:

(144856.35)

Basically, your 6'5 PF could train Jump Range and Shot Blocking right now and see minimal increases in salary. As you already noted, he could change positions. So if you over train one skill, his position may change and you might end up with a higher salary that the player is really worth.

Yes, player positions change based on how they are trained. As far as we (the userbase) can tell, there are 5 different salary formulas and the suggested position is the position that has the highest salary. The skills that affect salary [the most] are:

PG: JS, JR, OD, HA, DR, PA, RB

SG: JS, JR, OD, RB

SF: JS, JR, OD, ID, RB, SB

PF: JS, IS, ID, RB, SB

C: IS, ID, RB, SB

Those skills are based on the Coach Parrot tool.

So basically, passing is "free" on an SF until his position changes to PG. There are many, many teams out there that play either "PGs" or "PFs" at SF. It is more a salary formula artifact than anything else.

edit: Rebounding affects everyone's salary.

I'm finishing off my SF. He is 23 and his height is currently working against him but his skills are currently 10/10/12/10/10/9 8/10/7/7 5/7. I want to get him 2 more ID pops then at least 1 REB pop and 1 PA. Maybe squeaking 1 more OD in there should put him right at his cap.

Thoughts? And would he be useful if/when I promote to DIV III in the next couple seasons.

I have 1757 players for sale and I'm $25,835,360 in debt. Buy them at outrageous prices, or be selfish and make me go bankrupt. You decide, BB.
