I've actually been working on a boom-bust cycle strategy. I love training - I especially love training homegrown players. I've tanked a couple of season to get the first overall pick. Right now, all 3 of my trainees were drafted by me. Once I finish up a trainee, I will probably shoot to get a top 4 pick and try and find another top homegrown trainee. I think I'm at the point where I want to get back to div III and stay there.

Also, another fun thing is trying to fix these holes on homegrown trainees. It's always interesting to see what kind of player the lottery-draft gives you.

Thanks for all the great posts folks.

I just love training players. Theirs nothing more satisfying in this game than getting a player who has a few thousand salary and developing him and gradually watching him become a star for your team.

I`m not sure that promotion is even very important to me. I got promoted last season and I had absolutely no chance of staying in that league as all the other teams had players on much bigger salaries than any of mine. therefore I was losing every week and had no interest for the game. Developing players is more fun than promotion for me certainly.

I`ve never trained a draft pick of mine because I have always had dreadful draft picks. Even last season when I had first pick. Maybe this year I might just keep my picks and try to see what I can make of them no matter what they are like. That might be fun.

I have had atleast one decent pick a year (perenial allstar potencial with 40+ skillpoints i count as decent one) but the season i tanked inm div 3 for draft pick:D seems if you want to get one badly u wont get. drafted my best draftee number 16 pick:D and others like 12-14th picks.

Also a tip for drafting. cooperate with one of ur league mates so you can scout all the posible picks in the draft, atleast all 18year old ones and sometimes nearly all 19year olds investing 20k a week, by sharing information:D
