yeah, I agree with you. THe only thing that sucks is that most of those transfers came right after season started. So we have low TV contract, and very high salaries. I am pretty sure half of the league including me is running negative weekly balance :D

But with so many great teams it might be needed to avoid relegation series.

@bbalin,

with the speed that you are improving (for God's sake, look how far you went with you OD :D ) we will get an iceage before your league passes us (yes, I said it. A little smack talk doesnt hurt anyone)

Summary of games on February 14th!

Soaring Eagles- Ruffian 111-109

Very exciting game that went right to the wire. Inside offence versus outside offence. despite Ruffian having HCA, eagles were able to take a win in this one.
Game was tight all the way, but the real emotions started in 4th quarters. it looked like teams decided to stop defending and see who can outshoot the opponent. It looked like OT will be needed to settle it, but then Ruffian having possesion with 15 seconds to go decided to take a buzzerbeater. Problem was that Filipczak couldnt handle the rpessure and shot with still 1 second left on the clock. Eagles were able to secure the rebound after a miss, pass the ball through the whole court (just for math geeks, the ball had to fly at least 144km/h to make it to the other side of the court in 1 second) and finish this incredible play with a bank shot that made it in. After seeing this Kevi has decided that Jeremy Lin took it easy in yesterday's Knicks' game and he doesnt deserve the praise. After all he had whole 20 seconds to make his play.

Player of the game: Nicu. his team lost, but overall performance was amazing. 30 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists was just enough to convince me that he deserves it over Solano (buzzerbeater scorer)

Scarbourough Stampede- The Dream Shakers 102-82

Expected a close one here, but simplycrazy did something to his team (do we have an anti-doping commission in this league?) and they were able to pull out an easy win in away game.

Player of the game: Ayala. Double double: 14 points in just 10 shots and 10 boards. Very efficient and since others didnt provide a spark, Jose gets my nod for player of the game.

We are Legends- Haylors 103-90

Another game that had potential to be very exciting, but 3rd quarter in whoch Legends outscred Haylors by 15 decided the outcome. After that blow haylors were never able to recover, and Legends managed to hold on to the lead and get crucial win in a team of similar level.

Player of the game: martinovis. Top scorer (28), with nice shooting accuracy and 4 3 pointers.

Ottawa Lightning- Webfoots 64-85

Former Naismith team started to rebuild and bought couple of players, but it was not enough to get their first win in league II. It was never even close. Kevi has to splash out a bit more of the mountain of cash that he sleeps on, otherwise he might be out of contention before season gets into deciding phase. Solid display from Webfoots who proved that they are capable of causing some upsets in strong red side of league II.

Player of the game: Smargovicz. 9-12 shooting, 12 boards and 2 blocks. Norwegian moster Alm scored 39 points, but it was with a patient tactic and he needed 41 shots to accomplish that so I cant name him MVP, but I am sure that in near future he will get his honour.

Keyes- Soul Crashers 96-48

Game with no history. Keyes is just way to strong to handle for anyone in this leauge, and seeing that Soul Crushers had their ?souls crushed? and decided to flee from the field leaving just enough scrubs behind to finish the game.

Player of the game: Stamatovic: 19 points on not a very good shooting, but he did manage to get 14 assists. Ku Jzeng managed to scroe 40 points, but come on, I couldnt name a player from a team that was destroyed a MVP

Montreal Visoders- Sherbrookers 80-100

Dont have much to write on this one. Sherbrookers pulled away at the beginning, and Montreal was onkly capable of cutting deficit in half after 3rd. i guess Sherbrookers took a nap in that part of a game, but when they decided to at elast stand up from the floor, they managed to close the win and add additional 10 point advantage in 4th quarter.

Player of the game: Brunner. 30 points, 14 rebounds, 2 steals, 4 blocks. do i really have to explain?

88s- Pszczyna Team 81-113

Another game that wasnt even close. HCA allowed damian13ster to manage minutes efficiently, get a full training, and still win comfortably. Thank you very much.

Player of the game: Roberto Chiappori. After getting 4 fouls very quick into the game and not shooting goal, I was ready to fire him and make place for Bradshaw on the field. Obviously seeing changing colours on my face Chiappori decided that for his and his family's sake he needs to play better. 25 points in 16 shots and 14 rebounds was enough to convince me to spare them. This time.......

The Syndicate- Cerebreal

It was never close. One thing that really shocked me is Cerebreal's ratings. Seriously, those are very Naismith like. i guess that having over 200k salary monster really helps your team. Who could have guessed....

player of the game: Barthel. Not the best scorer, but very well rounded game. 5 rebounds, 8 assists, 2 steals, 0 TO and 22 points with incredible 15 rating (for a guard!!!!!!). I feel bad for anyone that has to face this monster

(http://www.buzzerbeater.com/community/forum/read.aspx?thr...) Started a thread for all Division 2 managers to talk about their leagues, brag, and just get some activity going in the main forums if you are interested. Feel free to copy and paste any interesting stuff from your talks here to this thread.

Thanks!

oh crap, league III team in the cup, and an active one at that. Not very strong, but still capable of winning with extra effort. Looks like I have 3 hard games this week. Won't be easy to manage GS and still win 2 of those games and dont ruin my PD entirely with keyes

unless they make transfers (looks like they will since they are selling couple of guys) it won't be much of a challenge but sitll wont be able to just play entirely with scrubs

Game of the Night

Saturday February 18

1 Pszczyna Team (2-0) @ 2 Keyes Kops (2-0)

Preview of the Great 8 conference finals? Both these teams are considered contenders for championship and practically locks for first and second place in the great 8. Keyes Kops has been in D.II.1 since season 7, and is looking to advance, with a dangerous team from Top to bottom, this might be there shot. Meanwhile Pszczyna Team have been in D.II.1 since season 14. Having made a strong push last season and narrowly avoiding relegation, Pszczyna Team is now considered a contender for championship. Whats on the line for this game so early in the season? possible playoff HCA, bragging rights, and being able to see early, who the serious contenders are.

Key match up tonight
Point Guards
Domènec Viyuela (11866052) - Pszczyna Team
vs
Ron Zisterer (10637948) - Keyes Kops

too excited to do a writeup now. missed 4 FT at the end of a game in a row, but still managed to pull of an incredible and spectacular win :D. In large part thanks to Liu Tong Tam who always managed to take matter in his own hands in most important parts of the game. Qikun was also sensational with his offensive rebounds.

Annoyed with FT shooting though. it's terrible

got an injury to my only big man sub, luckily only short term

by the way. Keyes CT'ed :d whoever is playing them on tuesday, please grab a win :D (sorry keyeskid ;P)

Ok, I have cooled down a bit, let's do this:

Webfoots- 88s 105-73

Webfoots emerges as a next very strong team in red conference. They put up an amazing ratings, and have managed to win their away game comfortably with a nice margin. With a style of play they really remind me of Keyes Kops, with great point guards, and strong power forward, but I believe they dont have required depth yet to make a run for it, and first round of playoffs will be max that they can achieve (feel free to prove me wrong). They might still pull out a couple of surprises and best teams should watch out for them,

player of the game: Costa, impressive performance by Webfoots' PG. 13 Assists, 17 points, 4 steals, and most importantly zero turnovers.

The Dream Shakers- Montreal Visoders 87-76

Another win for an away team. Extra effort by Visoders wasnt enough to win this home game. I am afraid Montreal will have to fight for relegation this season, and Dream Shakers are capable of getting to the first round of playoffs.

Player of the game: Byrne. Montreal's SF put up impressive performance, and even though he is on losing side, I still give him an MVP nod. 27 points and 10 rebounds, on 18 shots

Pszczyna- Keyes 93-81

Really an exciting game to watch. until end of the game, 8 point advantage was almost unreachable for either team (a lead liek that didnt last longer than couple of seconds). It was never decided until last minute of action. Keyes did use a crunch time in this game, but Pszczyna was able to take a win with a normal. Simplycrazy predicted the crucial matchup to be between PG's and even though the score doesnt reflect that it turned out to be true. For some reason until last quarter nothing wanted to get into the basket, and the 90% of points were earned by dunks from delivieries from a backcourt.

Player of the game: Liu Tong Tam 8 assists, and 20 points in 15 shots. Even though it is pretty impressive, it wasnt the deciding factor. Liu Tong Tam managed to score in pretty much every crucial important in the game (especially when Keyes managed to get within 2 points, and Pszczyna's SF scored 5 in a row). He also came up with some crucial stops in a moments that caused manager's heart almost to explode.

Haylors- Ottawa 76-96

After three games won by away teams, this time home court advantage was too much to overcome. Ottawa switched offensive tactic, and allowed their star PG to get better looks than with Patient tactics. That's why he managed to score 41 points and lead Ottawa Lightning to victory.

player of the game: S. Alm
41 points, including 7 three pointers, only one turnover. He took 34 shots so the percentage wasnt great, but it's still an improvement over last game, and with no real competition, this time he managed to grab MVP award

Soul Crashers- We are Legends 105-102

Another tight game this week. Two FT missed by Crasher's PG with 10 seconds left on the clock gave Gkalistos a chance to force an overtime with last second three pointer, but Legend's best player missed the shot with a defender in his face. Away team grabs another victory this week, and We are Legends look like another team that will fight for 5th spot to avoid relegation series. Soul Crashers, together with Ottawa and Webfoots will fight for 2 playoff spots (I believe keyes and Pszczyna sshould have remaining two spots secured)

Player of the game: Retiro. 5 three pointers made with 28 points in total. he also managed to grab 7 boards. The only scratch on his otherwise perfect game was a foulout with 5 minutes to go in a game. Luckily his team still managed to win so no consequences there.

Sherbrookers- The Syndicate 67-91

Comfortable win for home-side, and i believe that extra effort wasnt required here. Syndicate outreboudned their opponents by 15 and they made use of extra possesions.

Player of the game: Dennis Moffet.
He was exceptional today. 12 points on 11 shots doesnt sound impressive, but you cant argue with 20 rebounds, including 6 offensive ones. Also what got my attention is 15.5 rating. It is insane for a guy with respectable GS and 38 mintues of playing time. Especially with only 80k salary (not very big for a big man)

Ruffian- Scarborough 83-92.

After decent rookie season in league II, Ruffian drops to 0-3 on the beginning of this one. That's not a good news for them, but they did face pretty hard opposition already. Stampeders are one of the contenders, and they managed to take this one by 9, even without using inside attack.

Player of the game: Laval. in 27 minutes he managed to get nice double-double (14 points and 14 boards), and lead Scarborough to a victory.

Cerebreal- Soaring Eagles 101-93

Cerebreal was able to win tough away game, and they are back on the top of conference II (no, I havent forgotten about your team simplycrazy, I consider both of you to be contending teams). Impressive ratings (especially on away game), make him a main favourite for Naismith spot next season.

Player of the game: Laughlin. With a guy like Barthel passing the ball, Cerebreal's power forward had it easy. 27 points on 13-18 shooting and 13 rebounds are enough to snatch player of the game award.
