Bad beat of the night tonight was Santa Booker losing to Glasgow Raptors despite getting a double-bonus in GDP for guessing the Raptors tactics. It was a bad-tempered game with 2 in-game injuries plus an extra longer-term injury to Raptors starting PG Arnold Bryde in the 1st minute of the game. After starting the 4th quarter tieing 96-96 Santa Booker either due to lower experience or fitness or just being the away team in the game found the momentum moved against them, and they started fouling to regain possession after falling behind. The Raptor players they chose to foul went 32-37 from the free throw line and despite 7 better team rating and 0.8 better average player rating for Santa Booker, the Raptors ended up 132-120 winners.

No shock results tonight but 3 games that may end up as key matchups.

In the Great 8 Santa Booker had a hit and a miss in the game day preperation but with 13 more team rating and 1.2 more average player rating were too strong at home for Raging Seagull despite Tony Bonavia's 21 pts in 15 mins cameo at SG for the 'gulls. After a super-high paced 1st quarter that ended 45-37 the home team won by 144-121.

In the Big 8 Andorran derby, Dropito edged out Revolta Culé, B.C. by being slightly more efficient shooters and also being the home team in a very equal looking match-up statswise, but Revolta losing the 2nd quarter 31-12 to go in at the half 16 down was the real killer.

Top billing was Skytturnar putting extra effort into the game against Glasgow Blue Jays, being at home, putting out what looked like their maximum strength team with a team rating of 150, and getting rewarded by the Blue Jays winning by 87-62 with a 1st quarter that ended with them already 18 down. Only Vasily Krasnoslobodtsev for the Icelanders got into double figure efficiency where 6 players did for the Blue Jays. Glasgow Blue Jays are currently #1 in opponent FG% & opponent 3pt% so far this season, and #2 in opponent assists & #2 in opponent efficiency. With their only defeat being away and in double-overtime the Blue Jays are likely the betting favourites for a promotion to the ESL as things stand.

A relatively quiet evening mostly consisting of the promotion challengers beating up on the tankers, the new boys, and the bot, with a lot of full rotational selections appearing as the game ratings show.

The game with most stakes was in the Great 8 with Glasgow Raptors at home to Raging Seagull with both teams seemingly putting out the strongest squads injuries would allow. It took an overtime but the Raptors come out on top with a 131-126 victory in a furiously-paced game, and with slightly better shooting from 2 & 3 point range and the free throw line, 0.8 better player rating, 14 more rebounds, and 26 more team efficiency, likely deserved the win.

Tonight was largely people beating up on the OTHER conference's tank commanders, newbies, and bots.

The game with potential stakes saw Glasgow Raptors play Run & Gun into a wondrous (high) level Blue Jays perimeter defence, while the Blue Jays got to run the same tactics into a mediocre (high) level Raptors perimeter defence. The Blue Jays also GDPd to face a Run & Gun tactic where the Raptors didn't, and had 33 extra team rating and 3.7 extra average player rating so the final score of 148-69 seemed less eyebrow-raising than it 1st appeared.

The Blue Jays face Raging Seagull in Malta on Saturday then have Santa Booker at home next Tuesday, with the Locomotive Edinburgh game being the last match in inter-conference play on the 9th of December in Edinburgh.

Considering my next fortnight is a run of Dropito at home, Revolta Culé, B.C. away, Chicago Bulbs II home, and then Skytturnar away one after another I suspect you may be following my games in that period about as closely as I will be :) !

There were two games tonight between teams that were both likely to be play-off qualifiers with Glasgow Blue Jays at Raging Seagull, and Dropito at Locomotive Edinburgh. In the former, Raging Seagull burnt off some of their enthusiasm with extra effort but the difference in perimeter defence rating (prolific vs. average) meant that the Blue Jays shot 20-37 from 3 while Raging Seagull countered with 2-22 3 point shooting. Under-21 international point guard for the Maltese team Kris Caruana had a particularly torrid time with a 9-1-4-0-0 stat line in 48 minutes while Steve O'Connor in the same position for the Blue Jays went 33-10-4-1-1 despite more commonly playing SF. 78-39 was the score at the half with a slight recovery to 142-89 at game end.

Dropito has all the rest of the top 4 of the Great 8 conference in a row after tonight's game and played Take It Easy to likely save enthusiasm for the those games. Despite this they still put out what looked like a full-strength side (143 game rating despite a Take It Easy) so likely didn't expect any defeat to be by as much as the 104-78 they got in Edinburgh. Last year's divisional MVP Shaun MacNuir went for 36 pts in 31 mins (including 6-6 from 3), William Buchan added 21 & 14 to that, and Dropito were beaten by 12 in rebounds, by 31-17 in assists, 144-82 in efficiency, and by 1.9 in average player ratings in their heaviest league defeat of the season.

The three key games of the night saw undefeated Locomotive Edinburgh travel to Andorra to face Revolta Culé, B.C., Dropito facing Glasgow Raptors in Scotland, and Santa Booker as the latest team to try and stop the Glasgow Blue Jays steamroller.

Despite a missed GDP, the home advantage saw Revolta comfortably ahead until garbage time largely thanks to SG Jordi Torné deciding tonight was the night to score his highest league points haul since he was a teenager ending up with 40-6-2-6-2 in a 112-99 victory.

Dropito had home advantage and the Raptors played Run&Gun into a strong perimeter defence with Dropito having 15 extra team rating, 26 more efficiency, & 0.7 extra average player rating so Dropito winning 114-100 seemed earned.

Top billing though was Santa Booker taking a admirable wild swing by GDPing the Blue Jays on an outside tactic and playing 1-3-1 defense which tanks inside defence and more crucially rebounding which outside Petrescu & Luque is maybe the only real weakspot the Blue Jays have. And unfortunately for the Welsh team the Blue Jays played Push The Ball instead. 7 Blue Jays players got into double figure scoring, with Santa Booker guards Monsch & Tarapčík combining for a dreadful 7-33 shooting night in a 103-72 victory for the Scottish team.

To quote myself after game 3 - "Bibby Brotherhood's 3 man starting line-up gave up 189 to a Glasgow Raptors team who were in no mood to go easy on them... If Bibby continue this then further in the season when both enthusiasm rises & cross-conference play starts somebody may hang a 200 point game on them." Well tonight was that night! Skytturnar played Run&Gun / Full Court Press, Bibby did indeed play a 3 man lineup (and had Villa foul out after 28 mins!), and the final score was 209-41 behind +370 to -17 efficiency, 78-16 in rebounds, 77-1 (!) in assists, 46 steals to 4, and 5 players finishing with more pts than mins.

Elsewhere, the two games with the most stakes saw Revolta Culé, B.C. and Dropito keeping the pressure on Skytturnar and Glasgow Blue Jays in the Big 8 by winning their matches in a tale of two shooting guards. Revolta double-guessed correctly the Raptor tactics and eased to a 107-82 win. It may have been closer but for Rafail Bak and his shocker of a performance at SG going 1-16, 4-0-1-1-0 in 36 mins. Dropito had a much tougher time, being taken to overtime before winning 140-135 against a Raging Seagull who had their SG Tony Bonavia score 58 on 24-39 (5-9 from 3) shooting.

I can understand if man need to save financial crisic with players with salary (not the case tonight). I can understand there is a huge quality difference, especially between managers or whatever.

But I can´t understand being in the game on the matchday (login), having 18 players (why 18?), and having only 3 in setup!

Last season I fall put because scoring difference and that will not happen again! I have always use games against weaker to give the chicken exp but now I do less after last season exp).

I think I get it.

Not only is Bibby "tanking" but I suspect he has a pile of scouting points he plans to use at the end of this season and absolutely wants that #1 draft pick to guarantee at least one 5*/5*. And because CrvJeep is doing similarly he is being hands-on enough that he doesn't want to give away a walkover to lose that #1 draft spot while still being worse than everybody else which is a bit of a tightrope.

If that takes an 86 year old PG who had his debut in season 3 and that doesn't have an assist in 6 games plus fouled out of his last 2 games then so be it!
