Overally, my strategy worked, but the numbers did not support my theory if my outside guys keeping the ball out of the middle. I wonder how things would have been different if I used a 3-2 or a 1-3-1 instead. ;)
None of these wouldve been in question if you normalled and didnt TIE.
TIE dramatically reduces your defensive effectiveness and all but gives a slightly weaker opponent a wide open door to walk through.
I would opt to use TIE when you are CERTAIN of a victory OR when you feel your opponent will concede he is weaker and then TIE OR when you really need to save enthusiasm for a more important upcoming fixture.
I wouldnt beat yourself up about the outcome of one match - the enthusiasm has influenced the result far more than your tactical decisions.
