I tend to believe randomness is the most important factor in training.

I see no evidence that suggests this.

Strange results???

I have been training the SF/PF/C positions for inside defence. I have been rotating 7 players through the positions over 3 games per week and each of the 7 are logging 48+ minutes per week, (2 weeks in a row now). I am not expecting a 'pop' for another week or 2. But strangely I have had some negative slides. One of my centres is only 22yrs old, (starter potential), and has averaged 58 minutes each of the last 2 weeks (60 the first week, 56 the second), and this week his stamina dropped from strong to respectable. Is this normal?.. I didn't think players dropped their stats until they started getting older. And I also dont think that 58 minutes per week is too much playing time. Is there something I am doing wrong?

have to add that I have read several times that stamina drops are random...
