lol I was half expecting someone to come along and give that post 1 ball :P You should only be able to give 1 ball ratings if you have a higher average ball rating than the person you are giving 1 ball too :P


getting a 5 star rating in the beginning protects you from bad votes :)

For me a function to turn then off, will be enough in the end most rating comes from the point i like or don't like the poster - and in the end most guys end with 2,3-3,5 balls(at least those who make lots of post i like^^)

i think the biggest thing here is the amount of people "voting". to prove my point i gave the author a one ball rating when he had a five ball rating, and now has a three ball rating. that tells me that not many people bother to rate posts, although i know this is the suggestion forum and to one ball a post is petty it does happen with other posts. what i would like to see more of is "5 ball rating ( 1 person rated)" or "1 ball rating (10 people rated)" it would give more into just the ball rating that we have now

I see that you get mostly 5 in help forum and mostly 1 ball in suggestion forum. So if the average rating would have specified collor of where you got most ratings, result would be more corresponding...

So you would not feel shame that you got most ratings on suggestion forum, because your average rating would be red (for example) and would be seen as a different someone someone, if there would be most ratings from your national forum, therefore a green (example).

I keep seeing conspiracy theories about these one-ball ratings, but I think a lot of the people worried about getting one-ball posts need to apply Occam's Razor. Maybe the post just deserved it?

Was the post rude, hostile, useless (I'll admit to one-balling otherwise contentless "I agree" posts), redundant, or just a generally poorly thought out statement? I do see some posts where I wonder who could have thought it was only worth 1 ball, but most of the ratings seem completely justified.

There are a lot of discussions/debates in the forums. And in these debates, even if you have a well thought out view, people might just 1 ball you because it is different to their view. Then they post their view and someone 1 balls them. It's a never ending cycle.
