Looks like everybody knocked down their 1st round bot in the cup, including the blue side's two absentee managers.

Next week's cup matches vs. non bots:

CHI hosts SA Spur 1, a current conference leader from IV.55. Odds are, the Chi-town Storm breezes into the next round.

The Minis host a veteran manager when Big City Enforcers come to town. Last season's III.3 Great 8 5th place has firepower if he decides to use it. And he will likely use it to end the Minis cup run.

The absentee Scheming face Triple B 23, a team that relegated last season from IV.50. Will auto-pilot be enough to snag a win? At best it's 50-50.

WIL travel to Rucker Park to take on USA Playas from IV.21. Basically two bigs and a bunch of schmoes. But without a any dominant players, the outcome will depend on whether the Playas save their bigs for league play.

Deadmen visit Teiko Miracles, a middle-of-the-road team from IV.51. Doesn't look like Easter will come soon enough to resurrect these deadmen.

Delpra faces the team ranked just ahead of them - the Seaside Maulers of III.16. Unless they can reinvest quickly after the impending sales of Troutman and Fitzgerald, DEL is likely to be mauled on their home court.

Making an appearance at Beaver Bend, Muggles Basketball Club of IV.35 will challenge SPE. With two stacked rosters, it will come down to who wants it more. If spenn wants it, they better bring the magic.

Despite being ranked lower than their opponent, going up against the noob manager at the helm of the London Lobsters from V.18 should be a walk in the park for Linndale – especially at home.

Another D.V walloping should be dished out by the Raleigh Roughriders when they visit Team Ros3 and its noob manager in V.2.

The pared-back, injury-weakened Tsunami will have a tough time beating anyone this season if they don't fix their roster soon. However that happens, it probably won't be fixed before their cup game. Happily for Seattle, the roster of the visiting Gators158 from IV.44 is an even bigger mess, which very well might be washed away by the tidal wave.

What is it this season with the IV.28 or Previously IV.28 teams and III.16? Asian Invasion (if anyone here still remembers him) matched up with and lost to Knights of Freedom. Now Delpra draws another manager from not only III.16 but my same conference this week?! My old league(mates) are giving my current rivals 50k to use against me. Stop it. CT them!
:P

An excellent piece by the Drunken Clams!
I did not realize I was up against strong competition in my next cup matchup.
I really would like the extra cash this season by staying in the cup.... Hmmmmm....

interviewer: did you see the opponent your facing in the cup next week

GS: Yes

interviewer: any comment on the stiff competition

GS: NO

Interviewer: but sir you pulled a really strong team in the cup, dont you have any comment on the hard luck you team has been having?

GS: whats your name?

Interviewer: ahh ... Brad, ... why?

GS: let me ask you something Brad, is this really news now, my luck has not changed its the same, i mean honestly is this what your viewers want to hear about how the same thing that happened last week and the week before that is happening again this week?

Brad: umm, ... wel, ... i just thought, ...

GS: thought what, how that the same thing happening over and over would be news, honestly Brad who did you piss off at your network to get this gig.

GS(acting as if he were the interviewer Brad): yes you heard right folks grass needs sunlight to grow, and in more breaking news humans need oxygen to live, this has been Brad on channel whats it, on network whos it, telling you what you already know, back you Gillian

Hello viewers, this is Dave, in for Brad who has decided to take some time off from reporting, Deadmen have finally got some balls to bounce their way winning their first game last week in the cup tournament, then beating daballerz to wiin their first league game, and capping off the week by pulling of a major upset against Teiko Miricales in a 70-68 win which had the deadmen score a buzzer beater with less than a second to spare, what a great game that was!!

I actually see the general manager coming out of his office now, but im not going to be the one to interview him, back to you Gillian

Another week, another round of cup draws to analyze:

The BB Gods have smiled on IV.28! Everybody who's left is weeding out bots... except Big Dawgs.

On Thursday they travel to face the undefeated Phoenix Scorpions of IV.62. This All-American team isn't as flashy as the Dawgs, but their roster goes deeper. It looks to be an even match-up. And the victor will be the team that gives more to the cup at the expense of the league. On Saturday Dawgs have a TV game to think about, and the Scorpions face their best competition in the league. So how they play the Tuesday game should give us an idea of what Thursday's game will look like.

This week's cup draws are getting more interesting. Only Spenn drew another bot. And of the other teams only Delpra and the Clams drew a lower ranked team.

But before analysis, a moment to show respect for Big Dawgs, who made a second-half push, but couldn't overcome a 21-pt deficit at intermission last Thursday.

This Week's Analysis

Chi-town hosts Telecasters, a play-off team from III.13 with enough depth (despite two 1-week injuries) to look menacing and a history of emphasizing the cup.

ryber, a team from IV.3 with 23 seasons under its belt and a history of cup advancement, will visit the Clamshell to try and shuck the Clams. But I don't think seafood is on the menu yet.

Springfield will face Rik Smits Clogs of II.4 on the road. Hrudey's all-American roster, which goes 11 deep before dipping below $12k will almost surely be enough to end C - Diddy's cup aspirations.

The headless Team Scheming has defied the odds thus far. But a visit from the Cincinati Crusaders will likely end the abandoned team's improbable run before it actually turns bot.

The Deadmen have a shot at living up to their name when they travel to meet the divinedragons of IV.49. But mismanagement has made it difficult for the Dragons to win games this season, and the Deadmen may be able to snag another $50k even while continuing their aggressive training regimen.

Delpra hosts what is likely to be a feeble challenge from Olympic 84, a bottom-feeder from IV.16.

In another match between Great 8 teams of IV.28 and IV.16, tootsies will come calling at the Mambas' Clutch Stadium. This visit will likely feel like two tons knocking the Mambas out of the tournament.

Kobe's Boys have their third away game in the cup this week. But instead of dishing out a bot-stomping, this time they face actual competition in the form of six tired vets called The Blur. Will Martin Blake and company benefit from their exhaustion and eek out another week in the cup? It's tough to call.
