It's a real name - our DB in the US comes from census records.

However, it's not our intent to offend people, so we've removed that name from the database and we'll be renaming the existing players.

Thanks. Now it's out of my mind and I can enjoy the play by play.

I think this is a slippery slope -- there must be hundreds of other first and last names you could make this same argument about. "Mick" and "Kraut" come to mind.

as a "Kraut" i know the kraut, but what is a Mick and who got offended from it.

PS: I believe with Kraut we germans have few problems.

Whatever they do, I hope they don't delete this guy (6883245). He's got the best offensive name in the game, in my opinion. Even the haircut fits :). But, with more women playing the game, I fear it's only a matter of time :( . LOL

I agree it is a slippery slope. Such a name should be deleted from database if needed and replaced in case fo already existing players only if his owner ask to. But it is on BBs I guess. May be it could appear in the league news of that league too, as it makes skauting of that team a bit problematic for opposing teams (it could even happen more players would be renamed in one team in the future, who knows).

Certainly it should be done only for players of that particulat nation. Renaming random Finns because someone on the other side of the world could read something from their names which is not there could only outrage/upset their owners etc.

I see your point and I agree with you. Having said that, I personally know an Emily Coon and she's lovely :)

Whatever they do, I hope they don't delete this guy (6883245).

Just to clarify if anyone is wondering, this name is not at all offensive or even very funny in Finnish. The first name is very common. There are also close to 1000 people with this last name. It doesn't really mean anything. The first part of it ("pussi") however means bag (such as a plastic bag).

I remember a joke by Jay Leno (the actual items bit), where he showed a bag of chips (crisps), which had the text "Megapussi" on it. It simply means it's a big bag of chips. Every supermarket around here has an entire wall for megapussis. :-)

I prefer the smaller tighter ones. You don't feel so exhausted and bad afterwards and they are easier to handle and not so greasy.
