Obviously rankings are way flawed but really so is any public knowledge. Look at a team like Beechy for example, they are loaded and stacked and choose to tank for a while. What rating system can judge them? What if later in the season they do a HA and suddenly buy a $750,000 roster and force their way to the ABBL through economic, not basketball, might. I think their current salaries do not reflect their potential to be dangerous, nor do their ratings reflect how low they may sink while tanking. Both are fun, but flawed measures and I find them interesting, but far from definitive.

Mmm I agree, I also enjoy the different views of rating teams. It was interesting to also see that last season, most of the teams that promoted to ABBL had $400k+ teams. Then came along Smeltztroopers with a lowly sub $260k team. Threw everything completely out of the window.

That's part of the fun of this game, you never know when a team is going to boost themselves or drop their bundle and tank. All you can do is stick to your own game plan and hope you've done enough foundation work to achieve your own expectations.

avg player salaries in the abbl is actually 615k ... very much skewed by my 270k roster and WA's 1million+ roster haha nevertheless, with that kind of team needed to compete and not enough money to buy players in all the right positions, it was a no brainer for me to tank

Yeah think I saw you need a minimum of $650k just to have a chance of not relegating. Big step up from those Div II promotees coming in with their massive $400k+ salaries.

Seems like the best option for the majority of first time ABBL promotees. Unless you promote with a few million up your sleeve, it's got to be pretty hard to compete with the established big boys up there. My pride would probably force me to at least have a crack at staying up. I'd probably fail and regret it but that's just how I am.

Looks like we had 3 casualties from the Cup tonight. Everyone else managed to avoid ABBL teams in round 2 as well, with a number of teams pulling bots. Hoping to last a couple of rounds this season purely for that extra $50k each week.
