So I guess the key is knowing how to "scout carefully" then. I hope we get another draft like the one 4 seasons ago. That's where I got my HOF player

exactly. You could sped 100 scouting points on a draft and get next to nothing if you pick at the bottom of the draft, or 50 on a draft when you pick second and do really well.

Scouting is definitely too expensive for the results, the draftees we get ... But when you have a home grown team like mine you have no other choice than hope you'll be lucky and get a strong draftee to form and replace the old ones

The question is, do you fancy your self a gambling man?

The draft is like the mega millions lottery of B.B. but with more favorable odds; you have a chance to win big and that’s why you invest into it, despite the fact that you could also lose your entire investment on a lack luster draft class. I’ve played this game for many years and unfortunately the draft hasn’t been so kind to me, but even so, I can’t pass up a chance to acquire a HOF-ATG, 18 year old, with 60+ TSP. You gotta take that chance every time, especially considering the fact that even if you don’t acquire such a player there is still a high possibility of acquiring an adequate consolation prize. That’s my take on the draft.

Your analogy to the lottery is spot on. Truth be told, when I started out, I got an 18 year old ATG. But I think any draft pick can be useful if you know how to train them. I didn't and that's why my prospect is just a good rotation guy now

Yeah, for beginners, it’s especially important to cash in on those high POT prospects. Other wise you’re literally wasting talent and money. Thankfully, when I began playing B.B. I studied the TL/market and realized that certain prospects could fetch me 1m+ which was very helpful early on while establishing my young franchise.
