Despite our starting SF being injured 3 minutes into the game, we beat Macau by 15 to start group play 1-0. Junichi Sakuma again led us in scoring with 25 points, although Dai Nozawa was close behind with 24 points and 17 rebounds. We next play Vietnam who is 2-0 in the group, so keep up the good minute management this week! We had really good GS this last week and that helped.

Another note, although it did not result in a change from our 68 ranking, our ranking points increased with the latest win from 110.9 to 117.8.

We improved to 2-0 in group play with a 113-83 win over Vietnam. We are now second in the group behind Australia with five games to go. We got balanced scoring of 19, 18, and 17 from Kuramoto, Takaoka, and Sakuma. We also double-doubles from Nozawa(14 points, 19 rebounds) and Ochida(12 points, 10 assists).

We next face Saudi Arabia who is 1-2.

Our rank has improved to 65 with a 129.0 ranking points. That is a season increase of 3 places and 18.1 points.

We defeated Saudi Arabia 134-104 to improve to 3-0 in group play. Sakuma(31), Takaoka(27), and Kuramoto(21) all scored over 20. Nozawa had yet another double-double with 16 points and 18 rebounds. The 18 y/o Inaba also scored his first U21 point late in the game!

We next play group powerhouse Australia. They can probably chalk this one up as a win so we will be more worried about point differential. At 3 wins we have essentially guaranteed ourselves advancing to the second round so going forward it will be about conserving enthusiasm and figuring out placement from our group during our final 2 games against Hanguk and Malaysia.

A reminder to watch your weekly minutes. Everyone has been pretty good about it and our GS has been great because of it, but we had a couple go over 80 during this past week.

We took our first loss of the season today 91-65 to the host team Australia. We knew they were the favorites in our group so a 26 point loss was to be expected, although we were only down 7 going into the 4th quarter. Junichi Sakuma led us in scoring with 23 points.

We are now 3-1 and in 3rd in our group by PD with Malaysia. We still have Hanguk(1-3) and Malaysia(3-1) on the schedule. We should be on to the next round already but a win over Hanguk would clinch it.

Second Round Clinched!

I had a feeling Hanguk would CT us but I went with a TIE anyway and we came out with a 22 point victory. Komagata paced us with 29 points while Sakuma poured in 23 of his own. We are now 4-1 in the group, guaranteed a 2 or 3 seed finish, and will face 3-2 Malaysia to finish the group.

Our Second Round opponents are:
Loser of Hong Kong vs Taiwan
Prathet Thai(If W or PD) or Winner of UAE vs India(If Thai Loss and PD)
Winner of China vs Philippines
Loser of Iran vs Singapore
Malaysia

With the win we are now at 62 with 127.3 Rank Points, making the season increase 6 and 16.4.

We took a loss today to Malaysia 82-68 but were already advancing to the second round so I didn't want to burn any enthusiasm. Malaysia did use more enthusiasm and will be in our next group.
