I have this addiction too but it can really cost you in the long run.
After selling my hole team 2 season ago I've started buying starters PG/SG and trainees SF/PF/C, actually the SF was almost developed so only balancing him out. This is your option you want to start with the guards of the big men.
When i promoted last season I've sold my experienced but no so good SG + the promotion bonus and bought a better one.
Now my C/PF are almost a the right level of training SF is going nicely and the next season i will start training guards.
This works for me and maybe it could work for you too.My idea was that if i lose time in the lower leagues i will have less and less chances to have a competitive team against the big teams and also going up means more money that can help you keep up with your trainees.I'm also considering the avg age that my team has when i use this tactic.

I can't have even 30 000. I immediately build seats in my stadium. :)

I think it's easy to get sucked into continuously trying to upgrade your trainees. I have 3 excellent trainees with whom I'm very happy. However, I can't help but think that if I had held onto the two guys that I drafted two seasons ago in my first draft, my team would be further ahead. Instead of being in Div IV and looking to get back to III (unless my competition gets alot better, really fast, I should be able to make it), I would probably be a strong Div III team with those two guys as my center-pieces.

Both were 19 y/o when I drafted them, so that was the essence of my logic for getting rid of them.
