so i think i might have a chance to promote to a higher division, but this is my first season, so if i did promote i would probably be regulated back the next season.
so is it worth it to stay in my current league and build up another year or just get promoted then regulated back into my current division?

you wont go down but you wont promote either. since the revenues are higher in higher leagues i recommend promotion if possible.

You get bonus money when you promote. Using that money that you get, you can buy better players to ensure that you will not get relegated after you promote.

Talking about promotion bonus money, I have a question: the official rules talk about a one-time bonus, what does that mean?
I mean, my team is in division 5 now, but I see in the history page that it has been demoted from div.4 some seasons ago, before I took control. So if I ever get promoted, will I receive a new bonus?

you will get it, every time you promote.

Sweet, thank you CrazyEye.

So, to summarize: promotion bonus, higher revenues, and very likely a higher draft pick at the end of the season. Yes, I would definitely say that it's worth promoting. :)

The only downside I can imagine in promoting is a lower attendance due to (possible) bad results in a higher division. That might balance out the higher revenues, I guess.

i would say you are a bit in the plus with the visitor revenue.

But for sure the different wasn't big. I could compete with an bad streak with an friend who play succesfull second league, after relegating last seson(me 350k he 380k but i pay 10% taxes more). And when i win the revenue from me increase, his could just shrink with an loose.

To say it clearly you get promotion bonus every time you end up in higher division than previous season no matter how it happened.

If you promote, you will be playing teams with a larger fan base than your own, which will meant that you will probably have just as much attendance if not more than you do now even with a bad run. I've had a horrible season; got kicked out of the cup in the first round due to being matched up with another I.1 team, lost against my rival, performed badly on TV, had a major losing streak, and most fan surveys came in with the total average being 1.5~2 basketballs.

I've built up my arena AND increased ticket prices, and I'm still selling out, even though I'm playing like the Clippers. It helps to have teams with bigger fan bases and plenty of success coming to your arena :)
