I noticed a lot of top division teams lost in the first round of the cup (unusual compared to HT for example). Is this because...

1. BOTs are that much better in BB
2. Combination of TIE and away games is enough for NBBA to lose in the first round
3. They want to focus on flag chasing
4. Their training players aren't better than the BOTs/Newbie players?

Maybe they don't need the revenue, because they make so much more than the lower teams.

Heck, I'm glad, it just lets me advance farther.

NBBA is stacked this season, it's hard to give much to the cup w/o giving up a game in the league

Yes, I ended up playing my 2nd team in the cup match because my starters played too many minutes in the two league games. Though the loss wasn't unexpected, I was still surprised by the way I lost.

Tell me about it. I lost my first three competitive matches to bot teams but beat my first human-controlled team. If bots consistently beating humans is such a problem, does that mean that we all suck?

I think as soon as you start training for a while, your team will improve beyond the level of the bots and it won't be a problem.

Another suggestion, try to improve your team by purchasing some better veteran players. When I first started, I got a couple of essential players for $1000-$2000, they play quality minutes and for not real investment cost. They don't have to be super-stars, but guys with salaries in the $3000-$4000/week range that are better than a lot of your original players.
