I'm glad to be one of the users in the top 5 of the votes and have the ability to open one of these threads. I've pasted my speech below and will gladly field any more questions that come my way. Thank you.
My credentials
I'm a fast learner. I've been playing BB just over two months, starting about 10 games into last season. At that point, I was in 6th place, and my goal was to sneak into the playoffs with 4th place. At first, I didn't know what I was doing, and slipped to 7th place, but as I started to figure out BB, the wins started coming. I went 10-1 down the stretch to end up as the 3 seed in the playoffs, surpassing my goal of 4th.
I would throw myself wholeheartedly into the NT job just as I did with my own team, and I believe that my dedication and abilities as a fast learner would pay dividends for the team.
My plan for the roster
I believe the two keys for the NT roster will be balance and flexibility.
By balance, I mean in terms of player skills. I would look for players who are well-rounded in the relevant skills for their position, not single-skilled monsters like another online game promotes *cough* Hattrick *cough*. For instance, I'd rather have a Guard who is Strong in Jump Shot, Jump Range, Outside Defense, and Passing than a Guard who is a Prolific jump shooter with little else. Well-rounded players also train faster, which will help us have the very best players that we can.
By flexibility, I speak in terms of individual players. While I want to have well-rounded starters and bench players, I do think there will be a need team for a few specialists, such as a defensive stopper or a terrific shooter, so that we will be able to take advantage of weaknesses in other teams. Scouting opponent's players and looking at matchups will be key to our success, and I think these specialists, while not our bread and butter, certainly have their place.
Community involvement
Obviously this is not a one man show. If elected, I'll welcome any and all help I can get from the community in terms of scouting for players, scouting opponents, discussing tactics, etc. I want as many peopel to be involved in this process as possible. BuzzerBeater is so young that no one manager can know everything, so it'll take the involvement of this entire community to really make the team a success.
Thanks for reading all this. I'll be happy to field any and all questions in the debate thread.
