This post serves as the season preview for Linndale. Linndale is in a season of reloading. We have a group of guys who need to show improvement to make us a better team, and this season is all about giving them that opportunity. Rookie Greyson Noe hopes to provide some depth on defense. His ability to do that will buy him time on the roster to try developing other areas of his very raw game. Newcomer Hugo Gareca comes to the team with a strong offensive skill set but has to improve his defense and rebounding. Raul Tamm has offensive skills similar to Gareca, but is far more polished defensively. Arout Hairigyan has a bit more polish than Tamm or Gareca; the development of this trio is likely going to be the key to this season for Linndale. Rookie Jacob Billings knows he’s a developmental piece. He wants to bring defense and versatility to the team. Zvi Kenet enters his first full season with the team, and he feels this season is going to be huge for his development. He thinks he can score 20 a game, but knows he has work to do to get there. Honorijus Audinys is another of the first full season in the program guys. His stated goal is to play point guard; the impending departure of Antti Reinholm will allow him the opportunity for some minutes there. Soeren Gubatanga has the skill set to score 20 a game, but wants to establish himself as top defender as well. Jacob Chacon has the opportunity to grab the backup point guard job, but he knows he has to improve offensively and defensively. We’ll find out if he’s up to the challenge.

Among the starters, Prudence Masuecos understands the questions about his game are entirely on the offensive end. His goal is to provide some answers. Walt Colenbrander is a steady hand at point guard, but wants to be more dynamic offensively. Ladislav Dolnicek needs to be more aggressive on offense; we’ll see if he can do just that with the ball in his hands. Juan Onrubia has delivered exactly what was hoped for when he was acquired, however, he hopes to kick it up a notch this season. Joy Beko has always been the defensive anchor and glue guy; this year he wants to add a bit more offense to his game. I’d expect that any improvement is due to his teammates improving their games. At this point, he is what he is (and that is a very good player as it is). That brings us to Jose Juan Gallardo. He has been very underwhelming thus far, and knows he is on the hot seat this season. He simply must elevate his game on both ends of the floor.

As stated earlier, the development of Raul Tamm, Arout Hairigyan, and Hugo Gareca will likely determine how Linndale views this season. I expect that all three will improve, with the development of Gareca being the catalyst to how good the trio can be. Gareca has the ability to develop into the offensive cornerstone of a team for a very long time, and Tamm has similar ability with more polish on defense. Hairigyan brings more polish than both defensively and adds a different dimension offensively with his passing. If this trio can elevate their games, Dolnicek, Colenbrander, Onrubia and Audinys must elevate their outside shooting to take advantage.

By season’s end, the hope is Gareca can anchor the second team with Hairigyan or Tamm as his running mate, with Hairigyan or Tamm able to break through to the starting lineup. That would present hard questions for Linndale, but then if Linndale is answering hard questions, it means the development plan was successful. The goal is to develop successfully and make the playoffs. We'll see what happens!
