Does shot blocking have an elastic effect on other inside skills? And if it does, then should we be training shot blocking so it doesn’t fall behind other skills? Feel like people generally regard it as a waste of training time.

Hi,

Yes it has.
Blocking is also developing Id, IS and RB so you do not need to explicitly train those.
ID also develops a bit of RB and IS as well.
Because of the blocking training in the previous week your ID already got some points it enhances the training effectiveness.

The reason why people don't train it is because it balloons your player's salaries I think. I've been reading through the forums and realized quite a few managers train shot blocking first. I think it was in the thread that discussed elastic effects.

I'm currently giving it a go over the usual ID > RB > IS training cycle. Just in my second week tho.

Thanks mate, that was quite insightful. It's kinda reassuring to hear that SB is valuable.

That said, how viable is this guy in a normal/inside focused offense? Although I heard the new GE is supposed to favour outside offenses, but will this guy be viable if we wanna shake things up a bit to avoid GDP, or will we need to have different players?

Also I was wondering about training time. With such low DR and HA, would it be a hindrance to PA and OD?

DR shouldn't be trained much because of the need to axe IS, which is a crucial thing in training such a guy (meaning that the starting skill set is quite important too as IS gets bumps from training other inside skills as well).

I trained 1on1 for guards which shouldn't affect IS to get my shotblockers' DR and HA up. And I'd think even training ball handling to start would probably be even better.
