This is my trainee SG:

Jump Shot: sensational Jump Range: proficient ↑
Outside Def.: sensational Handling: proficient
Driving: prolific Passing: strong
Inside Shot: respectable Inside Def.: respectable
Rebounding: average Shot Blocking: pitiful
Stamina: average Free Throw: mediocre

He has superstar potential (he's about 70% of the way to capped). What's the most salary-efficient way to proceed here? He'll be 22 next season.

After some seasons in div 2 or div 3 finals you would face guards like ~
16 12
16 16
18 11
14 12
7 3

I think your should be something like this to match the competition. Anyways it depends on your tactics preferences. But in general you probably would not want to have a tree, 7-7 inside skills for guard is close to being a tree. If you want the most cost-efficiency should consider training some.
I think you should train 1v1 forwards till ~17 driving, then some passing/OD/Jumpshot. Inside defence should be around 8 and insideshot ~9-10, then 2 seasons IS/ID and maybe finish on JR. But it also might depend on the fit on the team and on the situation of other trainees and best matching training plan for both.
