I know this is somewhat non BB related, but it is significant. Plus never forget North Carolina is the epicenter of the BB universe or at least here in the US.

Woody Durham was the radio voice of North Carolina Tar Heel football and basketball from 1971 to 2011 and he went to that great press box in the sky early this morning. Sure Woody was a definitive "Homer" but he was a artist at painting a audio picture. Particularly in basketball, his ability to call football was kinda "meh", then again so is Tar Heel football. But in hoops he might be the best ever on the radio, and year in and year out there was one week where he was the unquestionable best and that was the ACC tournament. The Tar Heel sports network pioneered the concept of wall to wall radio coverage and for many of those years it was Woody giving the blow by blow for every game. So it is poetic he shuffles his mortal coil the week of the event, his son Wes (who is perhaps even better) is slated to be on the call for at least the night sessions for today and tomorrow. And he did the Wake-Syracuse game last night, now I know why the ACC network coverage wound up so quickly.

A public memorial has been announced for April 8th after the season is done. It will be a great celebration of his life and legacy. Yet I don't see this doubling as a celebration for another NCAA title as even though this Tar Heel team is hella fun to watch they are so frightfully flawed as to ensure that anything beyond the round of 16 will be gravy. Even winning the ACC tournament is a tall order with one extra game to play and being in the same bracket as those bastards eight miles to the west. I actually will make a bold prediction right now, I see UNC as a four seed, if the 13 they draw is a team of three point shooting demons ala Rik Smits Clogs then I see a distinct possibility of the Heels being dumped right on their asses.

As for the evil empire, they are their own worst enemy. If the Dookies get their heads out of their collective asses ain't nobody stopping them. But those guys collectively have the look of a crew marking time until the season is done and they call declare for the draft.

Michigan State is probably the most consistent team out there. Perhaps UVA could bore everyone to death for six games and win the whole thing. Or maybe this is one of those seasons where a Cinderella comes out of nowhere to take home the crown.

First off son, you don't even remotely have the qualifications. No bachelor's degree. No viable life experience. And this does pertain to your rooting interest, with the retirement last year of Woody's former schoolmate Bob Harris at Duke that leaves ECU radio man Jeff Charles as the longest tenured in the state though Gary Hahn at NC State has been around almost as long.
