the MVP voting is done by a calculator. I'm not 100% sure, but "each team will cast 2 votes". These votes are done based upon how a player played against their team & the impact he had on a game. Also taken into account is the amount of games he played during the season (games as in league games! cupgames, U21/NT games, Private league games & scrimmages don't count!)
Then the team makes a top to down list of those preformers & then the top 5 get the votes. There must be 2 different criteria used in casting the votes (otherwise you can't explain why sometimes a player only gets 1 top position vote) which explains why there are some differences in the end. however, the exact lagorithm that is used for these criteria is unknown.
The things that do matter are:
*) amount of games played in the league (need to have played nearly all the games to get votes)
*) Overall impact on the game (rating)
*) big 3 in stats (Rebounds, points & assists) being in the leading categories enchances the MVP bid of a player
That is why the player who generally gets the MVP award at the end of the season isn't necessairily the best player in the league., but is what the algorithm considered to be the best performer during the season.
EDIT: for some reason my post was registered twice, so i deleted one ;)
