I use the Buzzer-Manager website's Salary Estimation Tool -
http://www.buzzer-manager.com/estimation_salaire/There are five formulas for salary calculation: Point Guard, Shooting Guard, Small Forward, Power Forward, and Center. Player salary depends on which formula your player is currently under when the salary adjustments are made each off-season. Each formula weights skills differently, for example, OD and Passing could be very inexpensive to add to my power forward, but will cause my point guard's salary to increase dramatically. Adding IS to my power forward could cause his salary to go up substantially, but it might be free on my point guard, etc.
The current system is supposed to receive a review at the end of this season, according to the last paragraph of the
Season 36: Some great new stuff! (part 1) section of the News on the main page -

Salaries are determined by skill levels.
This is true.
More skills = More salary
This is not necessarily true.
For example,
(36747859) is a Power Forward of mine that has 76 TSP and a salary of $16 464/week.
(35968022) is a Power Forward of mine that has 82 TSP and a salary of $16 393/ week.
