I have a situation where I have four big guys that I want to train that's forcing me to train Center and power forward 2 position training primarily on four or Five Guys depending on the minute I get out to each player... I was told by 1 trainer to train one position only for my young guys but after I got the season going I bought me another big guy at power forward and have been training 2 position type of training most of the season now... My two rookies are both power forwards at age 18 while my other trainees r 20 and 24. Am I hurting my 18 year olds by not focusing on 1 position training or am i stunting their growth? I know eventually I'll switch back to one position but for now I feel it's necessary to try to get as much as I can out of my 20 year old who is a perennial All-Star

Honestly, it's up to you.

If your 18 year old is worthy of a U-20 team, then you are likely hurting his chances. Other than that, you are slowing down his training.

"hurting" is relative. You are likely helping your team with 2 position training but slowing down the 18 year old's training a bit.

So, its up to you to decide which is more important. Everyone has a different strategy.
