The playoffs are almost here! With that in mind, I decided to make my predictions in a few games leading up to the postseason. Here is my analysis:

Games to Watch

#6 Eternityz Rostah vs #3 Maggette spaghetti
I'm sure this will be a close game. Talent-wise, each team has starting pieces that can give its team the edge. Both teams are in iffy GS, which will only add how close the game is. The outcome of this game will definitely carry playoff implications. Both teams will come off of a loss to a higher ranked team, and are looking to secure their footing in the playoff race. Maggette's loss tonight came against the top-ranked San Diego, and with that, they will slide down to 4th place. A loss for the spaghetti's will only add another twist to an exciting finish in the Big 8. Maggette isn't in immediate danger of a relegation series, but need to win at least 1 game to ensure their safety, as their final game of the season pits them against the 3rd seeded Mirandas (details below). Ending the season on a 3-game losing streak will give Eternityz and Team A-O the opportunity to pass them, dropping them to at least 5th. Eternityz's loss tonight against the Mirandas drops them from 5th to 6th, and opens the door for Team A-O, who won their game (more on that later). A loss for Eternityz will leave them on the outside looking in, and in serious danger of being put in a relegation series.

#1 San Diego Eagles vs #3 Mirandas
With the #1 seed locked in, the Eagles have ensured themselves home court advantage in their conference, and possibly, throughout the entire playoffs. They do have a key injury in their frontline, which occurred in tonight's game. On the other side, Mirandas are a team still fighting to guarantee themselves a spot in the postseason. Tonight's win certainly helped their cause, but they aren't out of the woods yet. As of right now, Mirandas are in control of their own destiny, but they face the top team in the league (albeit, at home) and seem to be outmatched on paper. However, I wouldn't count them out just yet. A loss here will cause some problems in their race for the playoffs. After Tuesday's game, Mirandas have another important matchup against Maggette. If Mirandas end up losing both games, I'm sure they will fall to 5th and miss the playoffs. However, I do see this team maintaining the 4th spot, and maybe even grabbing 3rd.

#5 Team A-O vs #7 Purdue Boilers
In my opinion, Team A-O has the best shot at making the playoffs out of #3-6. Their final two games are against the Big 8's two worst teams, and can leapfrog them into 4th place, and even 3rd place. Tonight's blowout win against the #2 Steel Guardians proved to be pivotal and will shake up the standings. With the final 2 playoff spots up for grabs, I can easily see this team in the postseason.

Based on my research and analysis, I predict the Big 8 will look like this after Tuesday's games:

1) San Diego (20-1) +0
2) Steel Guardians (15-6) +0
3) Maggette spaghetti (11-10) +1
4) Team A-O (11-10) +1
5) Mirandas (11-10) -2
6) Eternityz Rostah (9-12) +0
7) Purdue Boilers (5-16) +0
8) lol lol (3-18) +0

Great write up. We'll see how things shake up. It will be an interesting finish.

I was relieved to get a big win in the prime time #7 vs #8 matchup last night :)

Hopefully I can pull out something in relegation and stick around!

Eagles certainly seem like the favorites to promote, but they're built around a starting 5 with little depth behind it. That injury could be key in deciding the HCA for the likely championship matchup with the Mad Hatters.

Yeah, I have the Mad Hatters winning due to their bench.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I'm afraid I'm not even gonna go past the first play-off round. This was supposed to be my rebuilding year as I sold my starting bigs to completely rely on homegrown talent and then got hit with a number of injuries, none bigger than my SF who went out for 4 weeks and still has 2 more to recover so he will miss that first game.
My new starting center will be back, but in pretty terrible shape after the injury.
In fact, there's a very good chance I won't finish top of the division as I have 2 away games against 2 of the strongest teams in the division.

So it's been a good run, but most likely it'll end for me with 3 straight losses, last being the play-off.

I just played in the game of the year with Mirandas. Wow. My PF fouls out before the 1st HALF ends and I'm already weak in the front court due to a prior injury and I was playing small ball to start the game up. My backup plays well. Both of us are scoring points like crazy. In the 4th I think I have it in the bag and then I foul a three point shooter on back to back possessions. They get 5 points of 6 free throws. I still have a nice lead but then they connect on back to back three point attempts and I miss some FTs and we go to overtime. In overtime my starting PG gets hurt and now I'm really thin. Plus for some reason my starting SG gets subbed out and misses 3 minutes of OT. So for most of OT I had to rely on 2 rookies, my starting SF who I just bought last week, my former starting SF who had to play stretch PF, and my backup 40 year old center. Somehow I still score some points and squeeze out the win. Willd, wild game. If any of you have the chance go watch it. Probably the craziest BB game I've sat and watched. Good game to the Mirandas. I'm just glad I have finally clinched HCA throughout the playoffs.

Holy cow I was definitely not expecting the game to play out the way it did... I haven't been able to watch much of the games this season but this is definitely one I'll be turning on the tivo for. Just based on your recap alone I'm a little sad that I couldn't win OT with the lineup you had out there. Though I'm sure if you played with a healthy roster and didn't TIE, you would've wiped the floor with me. GL in the playoffs!

Yeah, that was an amazing game. I was only able to catch the last minute of the 4th and all of OT, but it was intense! Until you team went on a little run, I thought Mirandas might pull off the upset. Good luck in the playoffs.

Pretty surprised that I took game 1 of my relegation series despite going playoff normal and being away. Was hoping to get an enthusiasm boost for the home game and send it to 3. Looks like you guys MAY be stuck with me for another season, but we'll see :)
