Hello Everyone!

Hats off to the teams who've been promoted, hard-hats for the teams rebuilding!

Let's have a fun and vocal season, and see if we can get a little juice into our forum.

Personally, I've been demoted from Div 3 in order to train some outstanding new talent I drafted, and I'm looking forward to doing a little better than the last two crappy seasons!

Say Hello! 8 )

Howdy all and welcome to IV.21 !!

I'll speculate for the heck of it.
The B8 is a total mystery with 50% of the teams being new this season. Tau Gamay is by far the class of the returning teams and will be the team to beat in B8. Windy City would be a favorite by virtue of the class drop, but it looks like you sold most of your div III team. The other 6 teams should all be fighting for playoff berths. Keep an eye out for the big transfer buy that may push someone ahead of the pack.

The G8 is a whole different story. The six returning clubs are all good and should all compete for a playoff spot. The G8 should win the inter league battle so expect 5 or 6 teams to finish the season with winning records.

I predict my team will finish 12-10 and finish in 5th, missing the playoffs by one game.

I did sell off all my older, higher salary players halfway through the past season in order to restructure the team with my new draftee Jimmy Majors. I'll be training him every week with one on one training, he's the new centerpiece for the team. The sooner I can get Jimmy's status to be regular starter, the better for my merchandising.

So I've surrounded him with some lower priced guys with high potential, guys Jimmy can grow with.

My arena is still large-which will help me as I reorganize. Near the end of the season, if everything goes well, I'll add two or three 24 year olds who are just out of their training window, and make a push for the playoffs...

Or if I'm getting my butt kicked, I'll hunker down and train Major Jimmy. 8 )

I see the league is going to be as quiet this season as in the past

My training tactic is to train the C and PF hard while relying on 30+ yr old vets at the PG, SG and SF positions. It is ironic that now when the 2 young big men are finally coming into their own, my team has fallen behind the rest of my division (based on how poorly the team did the first week). With most of my cash going to an expansion of the arena, it could be a very long season.

I also have a hard time deciding who I want to train. Have 6 players that I could turn into sold pros if I could train them all. Need to get rid of 2 to 3 of them.

I think they are all waiting to post untill you and I give up, and then theyll all post like crazy and say "surprise!"

I had this guy who would give weekly updates, he was so creative and imaginative, interviews with players, etc...really well done, you could tell he didnt have a life, a fact I could appreciate!

Anyway, it made it much moe enjoyable to have the backstory going along with the simulation, just another level of involvment, I suppose. Now that they are letting you customize your draftees avatar, I like the customization stuff. The closer the games gets to a baskeball RPG, the better.

.... and Windy City saves the big 8 from total annihilation at the hands of the great 8, by winning their game against the River rats who promptly drop out of the league in discrase.

Seriously, congrats on being the only big 8 team to pick up a win last round and it is very sad to see the River Rats drop out of buzzerbeater. They had been one of the better teams in IV21. Guess he just got bored with the game

There are times where I want to just start over-I do that all the time in video games...

I get a feel fro the game, understand some of the nuances, then restart, making the neccessary adjustments. My friend hate playing any kind of RPG with me because Im always like, "Oh, now I get it...lets start over."

But then I realise that such a big big part of the game is the arena, and while the wining is fun, I've become more about getting a great draft pick (Jimmy Majors) training him exclusively one on one, and building a team around him.

So it's tinker here, tinker there. Several items I've noticed: I used to train stamina, but I no longer do. Jimmy Majors minutes are the one Im most focused on, so with Jimmys stamina being somewhat mediocre, he only plays appox 35 minutes per game, twice a week. Its so much easier, basically turn-key. When I won my league and advanced to DIV 3, I had trained my team of 28-33 year olds in nothing but stamina and free throws. But untill Jimmy is out of his optimum training window, I will refrain from any stamina or free throws.

I think the move for a superior trainer early on was worth it, but I had to sacrifice all my allstar 28 year olds. Jimmy has multiple pops almost every week (elastic effect) and Im almost done doing his big man skills. When his inside defense and inside scoring are both at 5, I will commit to maxxing his guard skills. He's already proficent in his passing, has excellent defense and is starting to score at a nice clip.

Something I noticed that made me laugh: Not too long ago a newsflash went across the news ticker that said congradulations to Jimmy majors who had just made the american under 21 league or whatever, perhaps some of you saw the annocement...

So anyway I tried signing up to the boards, didnt work. Sent an email to one of the U21 guys and had no response. Now when I click on Jimmy Majors, there is no longer an advertisment saying "this guy could be a candidate for the US under 21 league!"

They took it off! lol
