Due to a combination of bad luck and poor decision-making, I find myself on the verge of going bankrupt.

Tonight's home game put me above -$500k, but after the expenses and revenue are calculated on 2/11, I'll be back below it. So the plan is to put a couple players up for sale and hope someone bids on them before it's too late. And on that note, if my cash after bids is above -$500k, will that be enough to save me? Or doesn't that count?

What I'm wondering is, at what point will I go bankrupt? Will it be in the morning when the finances are calculated, and then *poof* I'm gone? Or do I have until the end of the day?

From the game manual:
If you go into debt, you will be charged a 5% penalty each week until you are positive again at the time of a economic update. If you drop below -$500k, you must get out of debt within two weeks or your key players will be put on the transfer list at a starting price of zero. If after selling your players you are still not out of bankrupcy, you will be fired as manager at the next economic update. Bankrupcy is calculated first in the economic update and active bids on your players do not count as money you have to avoid bankruptcy.

If you go bankrupt, it will be whatever time of day the economic update takes place, which is always on Mondays.

Looking over his team, he will not go poof. He has enough talent to get bought out of his Red hole. So he'll atleast be able to keep his big arena. Thats a huge savings right there. It will take some time though to make money back up to get good players though.

If I want to avoid losing my top players, my only option would be to start firing players until I'm sure my team salary will be above -$500k after the economic update. Does that sound right?

Don't fire them. If you sell your players right now, you can get out of debt and get closer to zero. Lucky for you, it's almost playoff time and lots of people are looking to buy.

I'm just trying to save Rupert Sloan. I wouldn't mind firing everybody else if it meant I'd be able to keep him. By my calculations I'd be at about -$575k after the update. So if I fire $76k worth of players, I should be all set.

sell the two guys over 30 and you should be able to keep everyone else I think.

the 31 yo I'm pretty sure should get you 200k off the bat

the 34 yo I think about.........100-150k it depends on the mood of the TL

now after that you should be able to slide back into the 0 and hopefully back to the green sometime next season

hope this helps

Like others have said don't fire your players because then you will still be in the red and all the players in your team at least have a little value on the transfer list. On a side note: I like your team ;) very American.. It's a shame some of them have to go.

Don't panic !

You have a debt problem, you are not busted yet.

If you are above -500k now, you won't receive the warning mail tonight/tomorrow. You receive it when you are below -500k before the update.
After the warning, you have two weeks to get back to above -500k before the economy update.

You will play your PO games at home and have higher revenues than during RS. If you win of course.
Winning your league comes with a prize too.
This could help you get above -500k and out of debt without the need to sell players now. If you win your games that is...
You can sell if you lose.

You would receive better advices if you had posted your full economy.

Do you think you can win your league ?

And on that note, if my cash after bids is above -$500k, will that be enough to save me? Or doesn't that count?

Careful ! Not after bids but after sells. It's specifically stated in the rules.
