Has anyone ever seen a lucky fan get an assist before? And if so, can you please leave a link to it? (if possible)

I have never seen this happen before, and neither has anyone I've ever asked before. But in my last game a lucky fan made a "great pass" to his PG for a dunk. And got an assist!!! (I'm stunned, lol. ) BuzzerBeater is lagging too much to view a replay, but this is from the play by play:

1 3:36 5 — 26 gets off a great pass to H. Holman (H). H. Holman (H) goes up strong for an inside shot. Scored.
1 3:36 5 — 26 The shot was assisted by .

Now, keep in mind that my team defense was *extremely* bad -- atrocious (low) outside defense!!! (My PG, SG, & C probably had lower defense than a fan does). So I guess it's possible that had something to do with it.

Poll:  Have you ever seen a lucky fan make an assist?

Yes
No

I'm also asking this because I used to assume assists (passing) worked like FT does. To make a FT you need a minimum skill level -- there are many real players with 0 made career FTs. There are also many real players with 0 career assists.

Now, if lucky fans have the ability to assist, which they obviously do from my last game... why have i never seen it before? There have been far too many chances. It doesn't make sense. (I've seen a ton of fans making 3 point shots, FTs, and so on.) Is my defense so bad that it increases passing ability?

Hmm, so lucky fans have higher FT *and* passing than many real players?

Maybe because your guys defense was so low, that is was close to equal the offense of the lucky fans?

But maybe lucky fans have all skills at atrocious, but some of them might have sublevels, since you said you've seen tons of them making FTs, and everyone knows it's impossible to make a FT at atrocious without sublevels.

Yeah, it does make sense that if fans have FT ability, they would also have passing ability. My initial thought about fans was that they probably had the minimum ability to do everything.

However, after seeing so many games without a fan getting a single assist... and other people i've asked never having seen it either... seemed like they just weren't able to pass for some reason. (odds are i would have seen a few over the years).

Anyway... even though people have voted "yes", no one has linked to a single fan assist yet. So this is still the only one I've ever seen.

This might be off topic, but one funny thing I noticed, despite having cross training, Mr. Romano seems to never have his FT skill crosstrained: (7095293)

Well he's kind of old (33). Was he still getting full weekly training when crosstraining was added?
Another possibility: It takes 1 week of FT training to make a FT. But cross training increases only 10% of full training. Maybe that's not enough? (just brainstorming)

just noticed.... wow... how is that guy on a bot team?? $300k salary bot player!!! how did this happen anyway???

Site isn't lagging quite as bad now. So finally can view it...
Here's the lucky fan assist: (http://www.buzzerbeater.com/match/52703419/reportmatch.as...)
And here's the box score: (52703419)

If anyone can leave a link to a box score of another game with a fan assist, please do. (no need to find it in the play by play, or link it in the viewer. i'll find it). thanks.

Longest player history page of BB record :D
One thing that's pretty stupid, the guy make .400 3 pointers but can't hit a free throw, that doesn't make any sense..

Maybe 40% 3-pointers is a little extreme, but there are some cases where this happens. I've seen great jump shooters struggle at the line. It's in the mechanics of a set shot with feet staying on the floor. The player then actually takes a jump shot for the free throw and hits a higher % (but feet can't land past the line or it is a lane violation.)

If you remember me, then I don't care if everyone else forgets.

yeah but there's a difference between struggling at the ft line and not hitting a single carreer ft on more than 2500 attempted ! :D
Even shaq had a 0.500 record
I think ft and other type of shots should be somewhat related, in the end you do the same move but without moving your feet
