I have a pretty alright PG who I had been training throughout my experience in this game (3/4 seasons) and I am not sure if PG is just a dead position or if I am being silly. As he seemingly doesn't effect that much of the game. Sometimes he gets pretty good assists, but mainly not.

He is in the national team as well, and I had guidance on his training, so I am sure that it isn't that I have failed in that aspect, but some of my other guards in training with him who I play alongside him in my games have a seemingly better scorecard. Is that just because I don't value his contribution in assists over their contribution in points or are PG's just not that heavy a part in BB games?

I usually play tactics like Look Inside because my better shooters are my inside players, but I do differ my tactics depending on the other team. But I would always think look inside would give him more assists.

Anyone have any opinion on the matter? Am I just being silly or is this a common thing?

I looked at your player and i believe he is one of your teams key pieces to success in my opinion. The upsides of having a good PG is this.

He has gotten double digits in assists for every game you have played him at the PG position except for one, and if you played Look Inside for all of them then that means that he has been a large part of the 20-30 points your big men have been getting and they probably wouldn't be getting as many of those points with a weaker point guard. He also gives you very good offensive flow and outside defense, meaning your SG and SF can afford to have a little less OD and PAS/HND then normal and your team is still okay.

In my opinion he does a lot more things for your team then you think even if they don't show up on the stat-sheet. He probably creates a ton of easier/high percentage shots, then if you were to have a weaker PG, better OD, and makes your big mean and every other player on the court around him better. Although most of these don't show up on the stat-sheet, it is still a great player to have on your team.

I think it's real important for a good leader. I'm guessing most teams in that division have 30-50k PG's. He looks pretty good. Here is what effect from upgrading my PG position from 9k to 19k:

here is what the 9k guy looked like (Nto completly accurate):

He was pretty good for V,but I went 2-3.

After Chenier came in: 4-2 record with two TIE wins

OD needed work,but very hard training a 6'7,27 y.o. PG.

Overall,a good PG makes a better team. Our two losses with him came from top-ranked teams. IS canhelp in Inside oreinted offenses,since the PG can take a few shots. PA helps offensive flow (From what Iv'e read),and better offensive flow makes more shots,which means more assists.

i have found that especially when playing li, it is important to have a good pg especially one that is a good passer. in fact a good pg is necessary for basically any offence and you can see the difference in shooting %

Your player might need improvement in driving, JS, IS and JR to become a decent scorer. From my experience sometimes just one or two skillups can make the difference, especially in lower leagues.

He is very young, keep working on his skills and in one or two seasons you will have a player you will really be proud of.

Yeah for this season I will just keep doing what is needed for the U21 team (and also it does help me), and after if there is anything else that is needed for me (like maybe more shooting) then I will do so

Your point guard looks like he's having a major impact. Even his stats are solid. He has a 7 to 1 assist to turnover ration. Good luck beating that. That being said, considering that your team rates out at average (high) for OD and mediocre (high) for offensive flow, I can only assume that in the future you should add a couple pops of OD and Passing to make him even better. You've done a good job with him.

I have randomly had Strong (high) before, (if you check my games, the one against a team called Flukes, not sure how to link games etc, or do I just copy the URL and it does it for me?)

He has good OD, I will be looking to upgrade it slightly. My other guards I am training are slightly letting him down in both passing and OD, so maybe that effects the OD rating and Offensive Flow.

It is almost as if he is reading my post. 'Oh, he thinks I am not good on the score card. I will get 13 assists 5 steals and 27 points trololol'

funnily enough the PGs out there that score all the points are the ones that need to be worked on the most typically, because the reason why they shoot so much is an inability to help his teammates to find an open shot in 24 seconds.

my team is relatively week at PG but the few times my players have been improved in handling and passing i have noticed big improvements in game outcomes/numbers of assists.
you probably wont have seen this if you have always had a relatively strong PG.

the good thing with having decent levels of passing across your whole team is that you should be able to play every offense a lot more better which makes it a headache for your opponents who will have to gamble on what defence they try to put up against you :)

The importance of PG, is not the personal numbers
good PG should:
control the pace of the game
direct how the team attack or get/place the ball at the best location for his teammate to attack
avoid the team to get into trouble by controlling where the ball go
create a play out of nothing, when the original set fail

some common mistake of building through PG
1. good PG w/o finisher, then the PG will have to shoot it himself, then u wonder if u need JS for him, once u get the JS up, he will complete shoots with his teammate
2. good true PG having HIGH JS DR PA wings > too many ball handlers, duplicate skills
3. run only one kind of offense, usually LI because it looks like the PG get more AST
