It's that wonderful time where all the hard work that went in to the season, finally pays off for one worthy team. No more trades, no more jostling for position, the stage is set and things are now within 24 hours of kicking off. It's about time to do a little review of the teams lined up to compete through out the post season.

First lets take a look at the finalists from each conference:

Big 8
1. Chelsea Seagulls - 20-2 (no.1 seed)
2. VictoriaMages - 19-3 (no. 2 seed)
3. Stone Slashers - 15-7 (no. 6 seed)
4. Northcote Slammers - 11-11 (no. 7 seed)

Great 8
1. Aussie Pride - 18-4 (no. 3 seed)
2. Haggards - 17-5 (no.4 seed)
3. Vios Violationers - 16-6 (no. 5 seed)
4. Team Lordy - 11-11 (no. 8 seed)

Firstly I have to mention the last game of the season, where the two top seeds Chelsea and Vics battled it out for that all important HCA! Yoda had the arena advantage this time around and after being tied after 4 quarters, you can just see how evenly matched these two teams are. The Seagulls managed to steady and blow out to a 9pt victory, showing how crucial HCA is really going to be. Imo either of these two teams have what it takes but I have to give favour to Yoda. These two guys are a grudge match every time and I'll look forward to this season's Big 8 conference final.

The other two teams to watch out for this season are Aussie Pride who really stepped things up this season and grizzled veteran Haggards. Aussie Dude managed to take the lead and really settled into it, after Haggards had sat there most of the season. My gut feel is if anyone is to challenge Chelsea or Vics, it's most likely going to be Aussie Pride. Haggards has got a tough game up first round against my lads, who already took an away W late in the season. I'll be hoping my lads can replicate this effort tomorrow night but we'll have to wait and see how El Hag responds to that loss. Being rivals it should be an absolute cracker.

Speaking of VV, my long term game plan changed mid season 16, which saw a drop to 5th place. I wanted improvement this season and finishing at 3rd is probably as good as I'd have expected. Boosted by the recent win of El Hag I do think we're a chance to repeat that performance. The confidence against Aussie is not so high but I'll worry about that if we get there. Next season watch out!

Stone slashers has the beefed up cattle in the front court but is likely lacking back court stock to match it with Vics in round one. No doubt a worthy season for the SS and I reckon he'll be there again next season to have another shot.

Northcote Slammers are a bit of a surprise but yet not so surprising in consideration. Having some great experience and highly touted by myself earlier in the season, the Slammers rallied late and held MMM out of 4th. I don't think a conference final is on the card for the Slammers but another team to only improve next season, could give it a crack next season.

Finally lets take a at Team Lordy. Unfortunately the team most likely making up the numbers this season. I can't really muster much genuine belief that Lordy has what it takes and I would suggest Aussie is even considering saving enthusiasm by playing TIE. Not a bad effort for Lordy to make finals and he's showed the signs of a team looking to improve and make a genuine contender of his boys.

Whatever, Aussie Pride is going down! Sure, he's probably on 9 or 10 enthus and I'm on 5. His salaries no doubt dwarf my 220k, but who cares.

I'm just happy to be here, not bad considering I nearly tanked - a very lucky season.

Interesting to see all the home teams won round one of the finals/relegation series. Game of the round must go to my lads and Haggard, two rivals going down to the wire.

I'll have to make sure I finish higher next season to ensure HCA in finals next season, clearly makes all the difference.

Good luck to everyone still remaining.

wow... what a tough league. I almost feel sorry for the player contenders lol. Looking at all the play of game ratings give me goose bumps. I reckon whoever come out on top between Yodabig and VM, will win the whole thing.

Yo! Yo! D for D best PF in D Aussie BB. D Name is Kye Duffill (10080211), averages nothing but pure amazing! Vote for Duffman!

I would have thought the same thing but Aussie Dude tells me he's pretty confident of taking either of those two down. Being in the Great 8, I have to side with my fellow conference team. Mind you he'll have to get passed my rival to have a crack at the big one.

Well I gave him a run for his money but... bleh.

Don't understand the points per possession with Aussie PG on 20k salary but that's the only perplexing thing really. Was it just enthusiasm difference? Kind of surprising.
