I know something for sure is that history plays its role in the ranking. You have teams that were the best but sold all their players and for one whole season played bunch of scrubs the whole season only to still rank in the top 100 in the world. In other cases like myself, being that I am fairly new, even with last year beating world rank 2000-4000 alot I am ranked in the 7000s. So even if you had the best players in the world and you just started, it would take probably at least 3 seasons to have your ranking be realistic.

Besides history, I think the main thing that determines if you climb up the ranking is if you performed relatively better than the teams ahead of you and vice versa.

well I'm pretty sure that I am newer than him but..

I performed realtively better than him as i went 21-1 regular season and the two wins i had was by atleast 14 and the other one by 28 so I figure that is a good wins for it being the finals :P

Rankings have a very high correlation with your cup run. If you get knocked out early, expect a lower ranking.(this might be plain luck as you face a tough team early)

On the other hand, if you go on a lengthy cup run, your ranking will be a lot higher than what it truly is.

The ranking is only a very rough estimate and does not give true indication on where you rank in your country/BB world. Especially true for lower tier teams
