Large countries will never do well in a contest like this because there are more idiots than smart people(It's true so don't get annoyed) when it comes to predicting, where as a country(and GM's BB, LA's) with a small amount of user will do good because not as many peoplewill ruin the country average.

And just what does intelligence have to do with making game picks? Even if you had a crystal ball and looked into the future, or you had knowledge of how the game engine would run, and you got all your picks right...that still wouldn't be because of intelligence. You were only half right. Large countries like the US, with lots of other distractions available, will never do well in a contest like this because the number of people taking a serious interest in it are a small fraction of the general population.

By the idiot part I meant the uninformed people that just don't have a clue about who they are picking. The users who do real well are the ones who actually study the match ups, whether through world rank, HCA, etc.

And again, I don't see what a lack of information has to do with a lack of intelligence. Poor choice of words, on your part.
Let's remember, we're talking about a pick-em contest on a basketball sim. Here are just a few of the uncontrollable variables we're dealing with: what lineup each team is going to use, how much enthusiasm each team has and what tactic they decide to play, how much home court advantage will affect the game, how much each team's PR guy will affect the game. Even if you poured hours upon hours into studying each matchup, at the end of the day, it's just a guess. So, again, I don't see what intelligence has to do with any of it.
