ok how ****** are your players that you want to delete?
Try training 18 or 19 year olds in the same position to train faster. What lvl trainer do you have?

I have a lv 1 trainer that has a wage of $1000. The players i want to delete are players that are older players with bad stats [atrocious- inept] or have the wrong skills for their height and position.
For example this guy
Garth Pullin PG
Weekly salary: $2193
DMI: 4900
Age: 25
Height: 5'11" / 180 cm
Practice this week: respectable
Jump Shot: awful Jump Range: inept
Outside Def.: mediocre Handling: inept
Driving: average Passing: average
Inside Shot: awful Inside Def.: mediocre
Rebounding: pitiful Shot Blocking: average
Stamina: atrocious Free Throw: strong
Experience: atrocious
He is a PG that has the skills in wrong areas and he is old

I'd say try them in a few games before you fire them. You don't have to risk them in league matches though ... be sure to play a scrimmage (friendly game) every week to try players out. Forget the ratings they get ... just look at their stats for that game because if they only get a few minutes the rating can be anything.
You'll need a better trainer but the most important thing at the moment I think is to work out what skill set to train. Check out the younger players in your squad and decide which area (inside (centers/power forwards/small forwards) or outside(PG/SG/small forwards)) they excel in and work on that. So if it's inside then work on inside shots, rebounds, shot blocking etc .... if it's outside then work on jump shots, ball handling, passing etc (I'm hoping other experienced players can correct anything I get wrong here).
The other important thing is finances. You need to balance your ticket prices to get a good income AND still bring in more fans. This may vary with wins or losses especially for TV games.

Yeah I agree with Joecorp.
I have seen some pretty crazy amazing players that have crap skills. Try them out in a couple of positions before you try to get rid of them. First move is to sell them for $1000 (the minimum) someone might buy them.
The only real reason you fire a player is if you are in economic trouble and you can't sell him.
