I haven't been able to stick to one training regime. I started with training an NT player when I drafted an MVP and Superstar in my first 2 seasons. Then I moved to 2-position guard training after I sold those 2. That didn't work out too well. Now I have a better understanding of training (I think!)

I plan on switching next season to 2-position PF/C (ID, RE, IS, SB) with some 1on1 Forwards to make them more appealing in the TL. Basically, I'm training to sell. So I was just wondering how other managers train their rookies/players. And maybe a short explanation why you chose that type.

If you're training for profit and farming players, I recommend training guards instead of big men. The market for quality guard trainees is unparalleled in my experience. If you could get your hands on enough quality SFs, which may prove to be problematic, I think they could be an alternative. I don't see quality SF trainees on the TL, so I don't know. To make them as attractive as possible might require more than 1 season of training, though.

As for me, I purchased a flawed 18 y/o PG last season with gimpy shooting attributes, focused primarily on PG skills, and bought an 18 y/o SG this season. I've tried focusing more on JS, JR, OD this season to maximize both players growth. OD will eventually be the biggest emphasis on both players.

My plan is opposite to yours. for a while I am thinking to switch guard training for two reasons,
1. acceptable salaries with good quality in the games.
2. their price in the market is always good even till 26, 27 of age, that is if you give the balanced training with salary.
I used to train both C/PF since I joined the game, but from last two seasons I train C one position. recently I noticed that the price of big men went down too low. I think the cause is the high salaries that big men require to keep them.
some says you need to train them secondary skill well other than big men skills like JS, HN, DV, well that's nice, me for example I can to strong or above in those skills because O train them one on one time to tme, but I saw beg men with good secondary skills going cheap or no one bidding them with reasonable prices, may be because of their high salaries.

I saw a user I think he was NT manager suggesting to train big men OD, Passing plus those three skills I mentioned above. so how can I train C/PF OD and PS when only PG can get trained them on one position? then I can't play competitively since I have only one friendly game/week .
I see guards sell pretty good price on TL with very low (atrocious, pitiful) inside skills, but when it comes to big men they can't be sold a price close to guards even if they have good outside skills.

I was even thinking to train forwards or only PF but it seems that guards are the best choice because they less salaries, they make much difference in games than the big men with the same salary (as I think, but it could be wrong) and good income from TL.
it is better for you to stick your guard training for the moment, I don't know about the future.
I may switch next season.

From Season 9 to Season 12 I was a Big Man trainer. In these 3 seasons I built 3 very nice players, two Centers and one PF that can also play at the SF position. This Season, I train my 4 Guards to make them competitive for the III league (till their wage is about $12-13k). In the upcoming draft I want to pick two Guards with good starting skills and potential at least ''star'' and start training them with my other 2 guards in order to have a pretty dominant roster to promote in Season 15...
