I am assuming that a level 4 trainer is pretty average, can someone please tell me what would be the ideal potential to start out training a trainee, taking into account having to stop training the trainee once he becomes to old? Thanks for your help.

It depends on a lot of factors. How good do you envision your trainee eventually becoming? Are you planning on training him every week? Will you be training him on a 1 position basis a lot (e.g. PG passing or pressure)?

Without knowing the answers to those questions, I can only generalize. If you are training a guard whom you expect to be a mainstay in your starting lineup for years to come, I would say that you should go with star potential or higher. That would give you a max salary of over 30k.

For a big man, you'll need All-Star potential at a minimum. For SF, you might be able to squeak by with a starter (potential), but star would be better.

Its more wage that will become an issue then age. When your in the lower divisions you won't be able to train a Superstar and above to their full potential because you won't be able to support the high wage. Star/All Star potential is sufficient and buying trainees with this lower potential will cost less as well.

Ok I get it, so for a begginer it would probably be easier to train guards to maximise training/profit and while using them to win games. Do you agree? I have put together a cheap under 100k team ( 300k left for later) with the option to train either guards or big men but do need a huge player to base my routine on. I had the misfortune of controlling a 1-14 team with 4 weeks left in the seaon and 4 scouting points but found a great big man who should be good. I'm not sure whether to focus my team trainin on him or sell him and go for the guards? Do Great big man prospects sell for a good amount right after the draft is done. What would you guys do? Thanks
