I don't see a lot being talked about Experience. Has anyone figured out how it works? Is it just minutes played? Does age have anything to do with it? What's it actually do? How does it effect performance?

Every minute played in every match except Private League matches adds to a players experience stat.
It is very slow to get a popup in experience. Also can go unnoticed as there won't be a green arrow.
Different matches give different amounts of experience.
NT matches give more experience than league games for example.
Age doesn't have anything to do with it, although the older the player is, the more likely that they have played more minutes.
Basically it helps with "making the right decision".

So a more experienced player might pass the ball rather than take a risky shot.
Very useful in close games when there isn't much time left.

Wonder how that's coded in the game engine. Let's say there's under 2 mins. left in the game and the shot clock is winding down. You have a guy open on the wing. The experienced player would dish the ball out to the open shooter, right? But what if his passing is atrocious? Does skill trump experience and the pass sails out of bounds? Or does "making the right decision" add a bonus to the skill so that the pass finds its way to the shooter?

If the experienced player has atrocious passing, the probably the right decision would be to shoot from where he is, or he might be able to create his own shot. Not sure how it is coded, only a BB would know that.

Good point. So the "right" decision factors in your success rate at the different options available to you. Oh I know only a BB would know for sure how it's coded. I was just thinking out loud, so to speak. Helpful as always, Naker. tyvm.

No problem :)
I think experience is one of the most underrated skills. It can really make the difference between a narrow win and a narrow loss.

Somebody logged all of their players' minutes and came up with a number for minutes between pops. I think it was about 750 but I can't remember. Can anyone remember where that post was?

Edit: I found the post, and while it makes the claim that only regular season games count (which has been discounted by a BB) it does offer a estimate.
Here is the post:

I have kept track of my players and have noticed they pop every 700 minutes played( only league games). Age doesn't matter, it is playing time. Just go to your player page and look back at his season minutes from all seasons. It is between 700 and 800 minutes, I am 99.9% sure.. peace

Not sure. But I remember someone saying it takes about a season and a half of playing as starter in every league game for an experience pop.

Well, that certainly blows Yellow Cake's analysis out of the water. Maybe it's not linear. It could be 700 minutes from atrocious to pitiful and then go up from there.
