Even though I started BB right after the all-star break, I'm in a good position to snatch the #4 playoff spot in my conference. My training focus is on big men and I will most likely draft big men unless a quality guard prospect catches my eye that I feel I can sell. I'm looking to upgrade my guards for a playoff push this season and possibly win it all next season. Here are my current starters at the guard positions.

PG
Jump Shot: mediocre Jump Range: average
Outside Def.: respectable Handling: respectable
Driving: average Passing: average
Inside Shot: atrocious Inside Def.: respectable
Rebounding: awful Shot Blocking: atrocious
Stamina: inept Free Throw: awful

SG
Jump Shot: average Jump Range: mediocre
Outside Def.: respectable Handling: awful
Driving: awful Passing: atrocious
Inside Shot: pitiful Inside Def.: pitiful
Rebounding: inept Shot Blocking: atrocious
Stamina: respectable Free Throw: strong

What skill levels should I look for in an upgrade to accomplish what I'm trying to do? Are these guys good enough to make a playoff run this year? Are they good enough to carry me to DIV next season (keep in mind they're receiving no training as my focus is on PF/C)? Should I just keep saving money for now and wait till the off-season to make changes?

Your PG is fine for D5. He'll probably be an OK backup in D4, but it depends on how strong the league you're in. When I was in D4, I was perfectly fine with all average guard skills on my PG and a 3.7k salary SG starting. I did have decent IS on all my players though.

However, I'd look to upgrade your SG position.
A good SG which might be affordable would probably be like this.

Jump Shot: strong Jump Range: average
Outside Def.: respectable Handling: average
Driving: average Passing: mediocre

A guard that was probably worse than this (but with inside stuff like ID and RBD) did fine for me in D3.
Good secondaries would probably be a bonus.

And if I were you, I'd save money until the offseason, because playoff time is when players prices go up. Also, with the strength of We.Pk.You.All.Day's players, you're probably not going to promote this year, so you're better off getting players for a potential finals push during the offseason.

Thanks for the response!

Yeah I had no aspirations for promoting this season, but I wanted to at least experience making the playoffs, even if I was out after the first round.

Ironically, he isn't too bad with turnovers. But yeah, I'm looking to dump him as soon as I can. I just don't have anyone better to play at that position. He's shooting about 42%, 45% from 3 point line, so he isn't catastrophic, but I know I need a big improvement from my 2 guard to make any serious run.
