you should not spend any money until you know what the effect will be.

Best to start off with selling some players.
Look at your players, decide which 10 you would like to play with regularly and sell the others.
It's okay to sell one of your best too, but keep a few, winning is important in this game, much more than in HT

They are not your friends; they dispise you. I am the only one you can count on. Trust me.

First: don't spend any money on players until you know what your team needs. Even then, be very very careful.

Second: read the rules section called Nomenclature, and pay attention to what it says regarding which players contribute to each rating. Also read the sticky in this conference, it's very useful.

Third: look at your players and their skills. If a player of yours has the skills to be a good power forward (or centre, or whatever), that's where you should play him. Height doesn't matter in game, nor 'Best Position', only skills matter. The one stat that shows how good your player is overall is his wage. DMI is not a useful stat at all, so ignore it.

Fourth: this is not HT. There is no magic bullet rating that'll win you games (*cough* Midfield *cough*), but I reckon building a good defence is vital.

Fifth: the economy here is very tough on new teams, but you can survive. The three TV games will be of great help (you get $200,000 per game for them at your level).

Sixth: play around with tactics. See what they do to your team's ratings and how it behaves on court. Watch the match or match replays: they are great fun and very educational.

Good luck!

Hi Chewy,

I'm pretty new, so my advice isn't going to be strategic - you've got a couple of big guns firing you advice on that front already. But there's more you need to know. You've arrived in the game in play-off time. That means you won't have many fixtures - and without playing games your players lose fitness (stamina) really fast. So you need to fix up scrimmages (that's US speak for friendly) - and you must do that before Wednesday if you want a game on Thursday night. So you'd best set out to challenge some folk. You've got an automatic scrimmage set for next week against the team who finished equally low to you in your league. But that's not enough. You need at least two games a week to give your players a run out.

One other thing you should check out is whether your team has got any info on the 'draft' - like all US sport, buzzerbeater has a system for pulling young players that happens once a season rather than regularly like European sport. Under the players menu there's a link to edit your preferences in the upcoming draft. If you've got any intel there at all it should help you choose which order you'd like to pick from the available youngsters. Since you've finished the season so low in your league you will get early picks in each round of the draft so this could help you get a couple of good players.

Finally, the thing I've found the most getting used to is the training regime. Players only train if they get sufficient court time, unless you pick one of the special 'team' training options, like training stamina. Younger players obviously train better than oldsters, so working out which of your youth are going to get most minutes on court and setting up training to maximise the impact on them is crucial. And difficult.

Good luck!

To anybody who knows anything.

I'm a veteran of HT and sokker, and have also just started (logged in for the first time today). Keep the helpful comments coming.

Anybody want to mentor me? :D

I'm feeling lazy. (ish)

How much does it cost to list players?

Ans will stamina training effect player's salaries?

So I should train this up first?.....meh.

I like starting new games almost as much as I hate them he he....

Have no clue about basket ball!
