Please excuse this whinge but I was under the impression that if you select the 'strictly follow depth chart' the coach must only use players at positions listed in the starters, backups, reserves assuming no injuries are sustained by those players?
It seems not based on my last game where a player who I needed to play for the entire 48mins, and had him listed as starter, backup and reserve for the one position, decided to 'hit the pine' in the 4th (no injury)? WTF.
It really shouldn't matter that I was up by a lot, if I wanted that to happen I would have selected 'let coach decide'.
Anyone got a trick to make certain a player plays the full 48 regardless of game situation/score?

That happens usually if you take players to the match but you haven't set them as starters, backups or reserves.
In that case they may be substituted for any player on the field...

If you want someone to play the full match, you mustn't take anyone to the match except for the guys that you've assigned as starters, backups or reserves.

We have both said a lot of things that you are going to regret.

OK. That does kind of make sense thankyou.
Still would've thought the same player named as starter, backup and reserve would play the full 48 but clearly not.
Will leave the 'extra' players out of the team list next time. Cheers.

I guess everyone starting this game thinks that should be enough.
That's why you'll see a thread like yours being opened in the forums every week :-)
