I ran Depth Chart until 4th tonight in my game (http://www.buzzerbeater.com/match/17918578/boxscore.aspx) and my starters played 46, 39, 47, 47, 48 minutes. I was expecting closer to a "Strictly Follow" split (roughly 27/9 starter/backup) after 3 quarters and the 4th to vary based on how close the game was, not for my guys to have played almost 35 of the 36 minutes going into the 4th.

What have others seen on Depth Chart until 4th - is this normal? I had a starter and single backup at every position except center (same guy as starter/backup/reserve to get full 48).

Thanks you for the valuable information. I rarely use this option, but chose it for my last Cup game. The minute management was quite close to what you suggest—and far from ideal!

I believe "Coach picks from Depth Chart" have the same issue when choosing the worse players as starters and the best ones as backups: The GE uses the best ones as starters giving them a lot of game time.
