Does anyone know what goes in to the voting calculations for this?

I had a player (Rony Borrel) who i thought would be a shoe in for MVP contention last season but finished with a measley 11 votes (all 5th place votes). Rony finished with the highest rating in the league, was 3rd in rebounding etc etc and basically just dominated all season. His stats are actually similar to that of the MVP winner who ended up with 166 votes so i'm a little confused as to the huge difference.

The only thing that i can think of is that 4th quarter play may be weighted heavily in the voting and since my team blew out quite a few games last season and so my starters sat the 4th, his MVP voting suffered because of this?

It looks like Borrel played in 18 regular season games while the player who won played in all 22. That's the only explanation I could think of.

I had the exact same scenario as you the same issue 2 seasons ago in div IV. I blew out so many games that all my starters would only get around 25-30 min a game.

Having said that, it is only one factor. The other factor is like the other poster said, he only played 18 games instead of 22. Games played also play a significant factor. From that same season that I experienced, my best player averaged better numbers across the board (despite playing significantly less minutes than the guy that won) but he also only played 18 games instead of the other guy's 22.

To be honest, i think games played is given too much weighting. Since a slight injury pretty much rules you out of the running for the award
