Hey guys. I've got a quick question regarding the fan survey. There's an item regarding players happiness with me selling (or not) the team's star players. Will they become unhappy if I place a player on the TL but end up keeping him because nobody bids? Because there are some players that I don't desperately want to sell, but since the prices on the market are inflated I would consider putting them up for sale for a large amount to see if someone would come and pick them up

OK thanks. One other thing (I don't know if you can help me with this), about the PR-manager. My merchandise income is ~18k, about 4k less than the league average (in a league with only 5 active players!). I recently upgraded from a level-2 to a level-3 PR, but the increase wasn't significant, it wasn't anywhere near the staff salary increase! My record is pretty good, so I guess I'll only get a real merchandise boost when I have more star players, is that right?

I believe that's not right. Only transactions count for fan survey. Buying your own listed players will affect the fan survey, just listing them won't.

There are quite a lot of factors that influence the merchandise income. The economy page in the rules pretty much sums it up;

Merchandising income comes from your fans buying team apparel. Jersey sales are affected by a combination of factors. One factor is whether you have a winning team. Nobody likes to wear the jersey when you're losing, do they? Other factors include how many domestic players you have on your team, and also how many were drafted by your own team, as fans like supporting local players more than imported talent. This is weighted by the overall skill of the local players, so stocking your team with local bench warmers won't do you much good. Similarly, fans from around the country are particularly enthusiastic supporters of members of their national teams, and even more so when their national team is a succesful one. So, if in a given week your player played in a national team game, fans from around the country will buy their jersey, typically in a quantity proportional to their salary. National team jersey sales will vary depending the strength of the national team, but players playing in their domestic league tend to sell considerably more national team merchandise. Finally, fans from around the league tend to notice the league leaders, particularly in important categories such as points, rebounds, and assists but to some extent in all categories. If your team has players among the league leaders, you will see a bump in jersey sales from fans of other teams in your league, with an additional bump for the most eye-popping numbers in your country or in all of BuzzerBeater.

I quickly counted at least nine foreign players on your roster. That will kill your merchandise income. Computer teams are 100% domestic players so they benefit from that when it comes to merchandise and this brings up the league average by a fair amount.

Nope, Kozlodoev was right. Merely listing a player can make fans "afraid that they will be transferred."

Yeah that's true, I have 13 players and only 4 of them are local. Didn't realize it would make so much of a difference. The Portuguese market isn't that big so I didn't bother looking for national talent. Hopefully I'll get good draft picks in the future and build around a local crew. Thanks for your answer ;)

It does make a significant difference when you start pulling in foreign players. Merchandising takes quite a bit of a hit.

e.g Australia does not have a big player base so a lot of my players have to be imported.

I am currently coming first in my conference in a relatively active league (no bots) but with only 4/13 local players, I am actually making 6k below the average of my league for merchandising revenue. Also, I noticed that the difference in merchandising revenue between when I was actually coming 4th in my conference to when I was actually 1st was only like 1k. Thus I think merchandising is a bit heavily dependant on local born players.
