Hi.. I am getting a pasting at HT v soon to be bot.. I TIE with 7 enthusiasm at home thinking I could still win and have scored just 17points in 2quarters!!!

Now I know my roster has got to be enough to be in the top 5% of the community... i have some decent shooters (or so i thought) and have missed 14-15 three point attempts and i think 19-25 two pointers...

are my tactics that bad?? are my players having an off day or is this the effect of TIE v Normal that is being tweaked.... it seems to build up enthusiasm you basically have to throw a game or hope your opponent does it at the same time....

to cap it off my opponents game shape is poor to say the least vs my guys...

I don't think there are any good 3-point shooters in the game yet. The way i measure is Jumpshot + jumprange + Randomfactor. I've seen alot of players with the same skills and perform differently. A Respectable jumpshot and jumprange player is a mediocre 3 point shooter at best. The random factor decided if he makes the shots or not. I've seen a player with mediocre Jumprange and average jumpshot shoot 45% 3FG with more than 80 shots taken. Ar player with strong jumprange and respectable jumpshot on the other hand, shot 10% out of 70 shots taken.

Back to your question, I think we'll have to wait till the game finishes so we can analyze the end results. It's hard to analyze mid-game.

sure.... my early observations are that as im TIE then they are simply collecting all the rebounds on missed shots... i guess my tactic is to blame this time... i think i went for motion.. as i was sure i had enough decent shooters to put this game to bed... (also wanted to try something different!)

well the score was a bit more respectable at the end.. but an embarassing home defeat!

they were even scoring 3's for fun as well!!!

looking at the stats unless i am mistaken i have absolutely dominated him even with TIE....

oh well - my turn to suffer the RANDOM factor.... no chance of 2nd in the playoffs now and probably suffer a dip in attendences!!

Thanks and happy xmas all!!

maybe we just don't know all the factors of TIE yet...

first of all, every player looks for oportunities to shoot.
Maybe TIE makes players take shots more reclessly, with bigger chance of missing.

Also the defending player as well as team ratings are taken into account when looking for the shot to go in or not. It is possible for example that a team focusses on inside defense, and therefor has lower outside def team ratings, but his individual playetrs might all be piece by piece very good outside defenders, which makes he has good skill to stop your shots, and vise versa...

I didn't look at your match, and I'm sure, since I'm not that long around myself, I will not understand everything myself.
But I just want to point out there there is probably always more to a game and what happens there than we can see. There will be randomness, but I don't think it's weigingh real hard.
Maybe in the future we will get to understand?

no i appreciate all the points and i would prefer to learn from a loss like this than to win and think things are hunky dory and im doing better than i really am..

unless i am corrected i would put this loss down to an off day for my shooters.. understanding Riceballs point that there arent many decent shooters yet in the game.. if your PG/SG/SF/PF all have Resp JS or better and JR of Av or better cant find the basket then random must be playing a role.... there is no way his shooters have the same stats as mine (proved in the box score) and in the end I out rebounded him as well..... the quality of shot is obviously important but as a trainer of Driving and Handling I have seen pops in my players in these areas (and again would be amazed if my opponents players had stats anywhere near mine)

After all is said and done my enthusiasm got the boost i wanted... i just cant believe that i cant TIE in this sort of game and not walk away with a win.. this being the case then it would seem the divide between the good and the poor team has to be quite considerable (or at least wider than today!) or that TIE basically means go out there boys and I dont really care what you do.. if it is the latter then this shouldnt even be included in the game.. no professional sporting team or person would approach with THAT lax an attitude...

Not even 1 team in BB at this point has the skills to play Motion. I never saw a team succeeding in playing that tactic well. Not even one of the best National Teams could play this tactis with succes, check out this match; (610)

I played motion at least once, probably a few times, I don't recall the result though, and I'm way too lazy to look for it now. ;)

I don't have any negative thoughts about it, so I gues I didn't perform THAT back with it.

If you insist I might look it up and give you some facts, or maybe, you can acces that info yourself... not sure about that.
