We're hitting season 50 of BB, wow, it's a milestone of some kind. We need a thread anyway as it was a bit rubbish not having one last year...The current state of the place (BB) we won't comment on in this post, but a general discussion on this below is not discouraged :D

S31 was my first full season, so this is about my 20th, I feel I've been here a while now. No longer got that new feeling...LIDL, Los Mikitos & Gausón are our oldest standing teams, all have been here since season 3 :O that's the end of 2007 in real life years, impressive. How many break ups, kids and different jobs have you all had in that time?

Congrats to BC Žalgiris – for the win last year (I think I would've given you a better fight in the finals, but I guess I didn't get there did I...walking is indeed more difficult than talking (except literally it absolutely is not. who made that phrase?)) would be nice to see you do something interesting in B3.

Also congrats to the 5 promoted teams:
GSwarriors are our newest EBBL club, starting in season 42, that's a very quick transition. Southport Bulls not far behind them - starting in season 40. It's good to see some newer talented teams get here, just hope you don't get discouraged and/or bored - that's happened to a few recently.
Optic Fibers and London Whales also make their EBBL debuts on Saturday.
CWA Fury last but not least are back again - our very our yo-yo merchant, just yo'd again (has anyone got more promotion/relegations, I'm not gonna check that...) Bogdan Radu might help them stay up this time though :O (he was bookmarked, but I never really wanted that salary for either team)

Our favourites for this season:
I think Red might have the edge on Blue this year? An impressive BC Žalgiris – (impressive salary-wise at least) as reigning champions, along with Stinklemons (will probably buy a starter?) & Durham Wasps who are only aging in a positive way should lead the way? Falcons with a very good record for their first season actually, I didn't notice that much until now.
On the other side Tide of Fire are promising a rebuild, I think this might actually be the year they don't top the conference. It'll be between Doncaster Hawks & myself to replace them in theory. My team is set for at least the first half of the season I think – I'm happy with my top 8 and have too much salary for much movement without selling first. I did just get promoted to Utopia Heaven though, so will I be distracted by that? LIDL are always lurking and dangerous.

IS THIS POST TOO LONG YET? Yes.
Poll added, do a vote and give us your thoughts below. Predict who wins the cup in a textpost and any other random prediction encouraged.
Good luck all but Donny and Zalg!!! (we're joking! kinda O:))

Hello all! I'm very much looking forward to my first season in EBBL, especially after keeping my team afloat for a while due to losing interest. I wasn't sure my team was ready for it, but I thought why not challenge myself when I am interested!

Anyway, I agree both sides look strong but red seems to be the stronger. Stinkilemons and BC Zaligris look strongest in the red and I think it's been Doncaster and Arsenal on the blue but a few signings to any team could propel them forward.

Good luck all!

Thank you for the post, Bergkamp, very interesting to read as ever. This season I will try not to finish 8th, it is going to be pretty hard, almost impossible I would say, to avoid relegation this season. I guess that is what happens when you don't spend too much time on BB. Welcome to all the newbies and good luck to all, may the best team win!

PS. By the way, I have gone down and promoted a few times too!!!

We're still too quiet then...if you're not posting about BB, at least tell us what you're doing in the real world, or in other online adventures!

I just made a decision in selling off my 2 highest salary players...Will likely home advantage in the playoffs I could've tried to hold on, but I felt I needed to change things up. Definitely risky at this stage, limited time to buy + get new guys into game shape, but we'll see how it goes. If I didn't think I'd win it all anyway I've not lost anything...Johansson injury definitely badly timed though :(

GG in the cup Gully, close one that, I thought either of us could win. Based on the semis lineup you are now the favourite.

I'd think Doncaster is the favourite. He has the best GS and has thrown the last game. I think it's pretty much a given he'll get garbage time against Gully in the Tuesday game which means he can get very good minutes again this week (because he will know whether I'm going for it or not, so chances of him ending with subpar minutes should be low). Gully will have a little more Enth, sinc ehe will PON the next cup game.

I have a little bit of a dilemma: if Verhelst does not recover from his injury by Thursday (which he should, hopefully), it will be very hard for me to beat Doncaster and I won't know this tomorrow. Also if Batley doesn't sell tonight, there is a good chance that if I win the next league game I will go 2 games up on Gully and Zalgiris (always hard to win @ Elmacca, it will be tight). However, I'm not sure if playing on the road without Verhelst against Optic Fibres would be a more difficult game than playing on neutral ground against Doncaster at peak GS.

I'm surprised that I won the last 2 games (the cup and league game), but Banuelos is now the player with the third highest TSP on my team and Brona is the 5th. Banuelos will be the second highest after Marichal at the end of the season, barring injuries. I'm in that sort of period when your trainees get better than some of your starters and you don't notice since you train them week in and week out.

*******

Needham hit 150 TSP last week. His last plan (that may be slightly conservative after all) involved an extra IS to 151. I'm not sure it will happen this season but IS has already been trained since the last pop. After that I don't know what to go for. ID sounds like the obvious choice since it will have sublevels from IS training and elastic pull from IS, not to mention that Needham is 6'8''. He's 28yo so it's possible to train him for another 2 seasons and hope for pops.

I'm not against selling him to a good English manager to wrap him up, but I'm afraid he will cost more than people are willing to pay and I will have to waste money to keep him from going to some foreign team if I put him on the TL. I suppose we will have to see if this guy (40886524) sells and for how much. Needham is not better than that guy as a guard, but he is 3 years younger and even after the IS pop he'd only be around 130-140k salary (he might switch from SF to PF formula when that happens but he will still be 97%-100% capped according to Buzzer Manager).

Thanks. I actually thought it was over at half time but should have known better. Would be stupid to call it revenge for last season's semi but it did feel good.

Based on the semis lineup you are now the favourite.

I usually try to transfer the favourite tag to someone else but I don't think I could argue convincingly. Certainly the bookies would have the Wasps as favourites. Wouldn't make us good value though.

BB surprised me so many times, it can be so unpredictable.

Verhelst is the key, if he won't recover Thursday, then with GS currently I have, I should make it to the final.
