Id like to suggest something similar that is on Facebook.
It would be good if you could mention a team's name or a username, in a post, and the user gets notified that they have been mentioned. They would then be able to click a link to that forum post.
This is currently a feature in Facebook, whereby if you mention someones name in a news feed thread or picture, they get notified.
Its quite good if you want to share the post with several (or just one) user.
So for example, if I mentioned 'Cunning Linguists' in a special bracket, this would notify my team and give me a link to the post. (similar in style when you get responded to, you get a notification in the Forums page).
This might jazz up the forums a bit and get more users following more threads and generate more discussion amongst the community.
