Sorry if the answer to this question is available somewhere, but I searched the FAQ and the manual and couldn't find the answer. How is the order in which teams draft determined, i.e., who gets first pick, second, etc.? Or actually, I'm more concerned with the order the playoff teams draft in.

Right now in my league I am tied for the 6th best record. However, I am also on top of my division, because the other division is stomping all over mine. So, if things stand as they are, and the playoffs go in some predictable fashion, I'll make the finals, and get stomped. Does that mean I'll draft 2nd to last (as the playoff loser?) or somewhere around 6th to last, aka 11th, because I have the 6th best record?

If the former, I have no incentive to lose games and little incentive to invest in the draft; if the latter, and I find myself up 3 games in my division with 2 to play, I should try to throw those last two games (and take advantage of the chance to train some people off-position).

its like the NBA except no draft lottery the higher up you are in your league the later you draft and if there is a tie then the person with the lower PD drafts first

That doesn't answer my question I'm afraid. Which team is "higher up", a team that goes 20-2, but loses in the semi-finals and is 2nd in their division, or a team which is 15-7, but makes the finals and was first in their division?

Hi there - the team with the best record drafts last irrespective of whether they promote or not so if the other division top six have better records than you you will pick draft before them.

hope this helps

cheers

Thanks. Very clear. And obviously, the hoped-for answer. Two more games to lose to the other division before going back to in-division play, yay!

If you are leading your side of the league I would never ever consider throwing games to not make it to the playoffs because you get so much more money through playoff games and losing games you dont need to lose will cost you ticket sales in later games.
The middle way might be to lose so few games that you still make the playoffs and then just win your way through to the finals to get the extra cash there and still draft lower.

Oh, absolutely. I'm not even going to consider losing games that would cost me home-court advantage.
