I have a guard on my team with a proficent jump shot, respectable jump range and pitiful inside shot. He shoots less than 40 percent from the field and under 28 percent from three. So Im wondering why, I have other guards that have worse jump shots and they shoot much better...any advice? does the bad inside shot affect my guard that much?

Just a quick look. Your last 2 games was an inside tactic.

Your guard would try to look inside first. A pitiful IS means he will struggle in such a tactic. A good JS makes up for it slightly but usually in such a tactic, he is forced to take bad shots as the shot clock starts ticking down hence why he misses a lot of them

As bossofbosses said so nicely, you have to take care of your players' game shape. Game shape is one of the most important things in game. If you keep it between Strong and Proficient, which is not very hard to do, you will see a big change in your players' game.

Getting to Strong/Proficient game shape means each of your players must play somewhere between 56-70 minutes per week. If he plays more or less than that, he will drop in game shape, which will result in bad performance.

Think of it as "Proficient game shape = all skills x 3" and "Strong game shape = all skills x 2" (Strong can vary a bit). x 3 and x 2 are here just to illustrate a point.

well, he shots better from 3pt than from mid range lol compared 42% vs 40% true shoting percentage:D and since league average is proly ~45%, considering u playing inside tactics id say its pretty good.

sort of related....but im looking to acquire a center whith proficient inside scoring but atrocious jump shot. I do prefer to run the look inside offense and he is in strong game shape will his jump shot affect his FG% a lot or not much.

I have two C trainees with rather low JS. They score well in LI, one of them with more than 60% FGs made.

Nevertheless, I will probably train their JS soon; mainly to have one of them switch to the PF position, but also to increase the possibilities for good looks in my team; having two or three attack modes for each player makes it easier to exploit the opponents' weaknesses.

JS is important for a PF but a C is the one player who can afford to have it really bad. Just remember to watch that game shape. I believe that enthusiasm also affects your teams performance in many ways so it may also affect that guys shooting %.

is there a point at which there is to many minutes....i know you said 70 but but my SF is way better then my backup and he gets like a ton of minutes into the 80s if i dont play a scrimmage othewise a ton more...and most of my starters get more than 70 in a week...should i bench them to limit minutes?

Yes, you have to limit their minutes in order to play better.
If your backup gets to proficient game shape and your first SF remains around average-respectable, your backup will start playing better than your first SF...

If your SF is playing too many minutes and getting a bad GS you may want to play one game with his as a starter and one with him as a backup.
