I have a pretty good player who is 31, wondering if/when his skills will decline next season?

I have experienced declines in skills.

My understanding was that declines only happen to players that are out of form for long periods of time.

i.e. If "practice this week" is atrocious/pitiful/awful for a long time then skills will start to decline. Best thing to do if you are not using a player is to sell them

So eventually we'll have 40 yr olds with amazing skills?

Unlikely as their ability to train decreases by a huge amount the older they are.

Don't expect a 40 y.o. to get pops in any skills apart from Stamina and Free Throws

You don't see my point. If the oldies never have skill drops, their experience will continue to increase. So they are still getting better, even if you can't train them.

Another point - eventually we'll have an oversupply of players if they don't get old and die.

Plus it is very unrealistic. How many 40 yr olds play in the NBA? For that matter, are there many players over 31? Do they still play like they did in their prime?

I think old players probably drop skills. But I haven't had one myself yet.

I don't about this "skills dropping due to lack of game time (low form)". Can a BB confirm this?

not sure if you play BT, but in there some skills train quicker as the player ages - was this implemented in BB?
