OK. I am in USA Div IV and sitting on a 17-2 record. I am wondering if anyone has an idea of what type of record it would take to get the BOT promotion to Div III? I am not sure if I can win the playoffs, but if a 20-2 record is good enough, I may put a little more into the last regular season game against the undefeated team in my conference. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

It all depends on how many bot teams there are in DivIII that are not in the relegation zone. So if there are 5 bot teams in DivII out of the relegation zone the 5 best records of the teams in DivIV that don't win their divisions will get promoted.

You will have to do a bit of scouting yourself because there will be alot of DivIII leagues and even more DivIV leagues to look at :P

I agree with SammyD, although maybe it would be more efficient to look at last season's final standings of some of the Div IV leagues in your country. Look for teams that had a very good record but didn't win their league, see if they got promoted and you should get an idea.
My guess is that a 20-2 record will give you a chance to be bot-promoted, but you won't be sure by any means. You should at least try to end with a very high point differential as well. But this is just a guess.

well i looked at the div 3 for ya. there is 10 or 11 teams bot and a couple more who will go bot soon. if you went 20-2 i would say you have a decent chance of a bot promo, the hard part is the fact that you have to play the two teams again who beat you once this season

so i did some more looking at div IV.

teams with 19 wins. 13
with 18 wins......... 25
with 17 wins......... 44
with 16 wins......... 53

hope that helps.

But the question is... how many teams that are bot are not in position to be relegated. It doesn't help those hoping for bot promotion if all the bots are going to be relegated anyway.

You may also want to check on Bots in DI (I don't think there are any) and DII... they will absolutely cause a bot promotion.

All,
Thanks for the information on the Div III and IV teams. It looks as though I have a slim chance at a bot promotion. Chances are that I will lose my last game of the regular season anyway, so I will look at a playoff run.

Last season I Bot Promoted with a 20-2 record. From my scouting I was right on the edge. I believe there were a couple 20-2 teams that didnt win the championship or bot promote. (USA IV to III)

I've always wondered how bot cleanup works at the higher divisions. A new user who happens to sign up at the right time can immediately take a higher division spot? If so, do they start out with the same lowly-type players as those of us starting out at the bottom division?

No, new players only get assigned to the bottom two divisions.

Any two will do
Any three for me
Any four will score

in german i would say "jein"(a mix betwen yes and no), the new teams join the last two league levels - and yes when both of then are filled a team could join with the right timing one league higher.

But i would say that could happen in very few countrys, because the last league is often a bot only thing.

PS: and this isn't connected to the bot cleanup, which switch the bots in the lowest possible divisions. To achieve that, teams with the best record(one division lower) who doesn't make the direct promotion get's their place.

If so, do they start out with the same lowly-type players as those of us starting out at the bottom division?

yes all newcomers have the same chanches while generating their team.
